Guest guest
Hi-My son is 2 years old and has only been officially diagnosed so far with colitis. I started the Spec Carb Diet for him a week and a half ago. It was going great (meaning the bleeding stopped and the diarrhea was subsiding) ... but he had an allergic reaction to something - still not sure what - and gave him Benedryl to stop his face from swelling up. I was worried it would trigger the bleeding again and it did. I've continued him on the SCdiet -but bleeding isn't stopping. Anyone else out there dealing with this with a young child? I'm wondering what to feed him -or not - to stop the bleeding. I know what is recommended in Elaine's SCD book, but he can't have milk (allergic to) so not sure what else to try to get him back on track. I'm still staying disciplined with him on this diet - but just need to get the bleeding to stop. The only medication he is on is sulfasalazine. The GI doc we have is trying to not use Prednisone unless we have to due to his young age, but of course if we need to put him on for a short time we will. Just wondering about the food side of it. Thanks.
