Guest guest
I hope everyone saw my post regarding SCD/Herbal remedies. Thus far I've only gotten 2 responses....I know there is more out there! Even if it was a recent topic, PLEASE e-mail me directly so I can get this remedy list going! Also just to clarify, TYLENOL and PEPTO are legal, correct? I was also informed a form of Zicam was also legal for SCDer's?! Can one of the SCD gurus confirm the over the counters listed above? Thanks
Guest guest
Yes, Tylenol and Pepto-bismol are legal -- IF there are no illegals in the particular form purchased. Same with Zicam. Other NSAID pain relievers are legal, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, if there are no illegals in the form purchased. But if you have an IBD you should consult your doctor first, as pain-relievers other than acetominophen (Tylenol) tend to cause bleeding faster, which is an issue with an IBD. I happen to be allergic to acetominophen, so I use something other than Tylenol -- but I checked in with my doctors on this and am careful not to take aspirin or ibuprofen too frequently (actually I take it a lot less often than my doctors suggested would be OK). Just a comment on compiling the list of remedies. Determining the legality of things can be tricky since so much depends on the combination of inactive or inert ingredients. One form of Tylenol is OK but another isn't, and manufacturers can change the formula without warning. So you might include a statement at the beginning of the list that everyone needs to read the package labels carefully every time they purchase. Kim M. Do you know which types I can start to look for for my home? I looked briefly online but it didn't show the full list. Also, which form of Zicam? > Other NSAID pain relievers are legal, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, if there are no illegals in the form purchased.
