Guest guest
Glad to hear it's helping. When my daughter gets a cough that's the first thing she asks for. I still can't convince my MIL it's better than cough syrup even though my daugther tells her the cough syrup doesn't work as good as the honey/thyme. She thinks we've preconditioned her to not want medicine (me and her dad don't like taking meds at all and my always wanting to find a natural rememdy is what led me to SCD). And, the funny thing is her hubby, my FIL, is the one that turned me on to natural remedies 10 years ago. My in laws are like night and day. Guest guest
I make it. Boil 2 cups water Turn off heat Add 1 bunch of thyme (like the pack you get at wal mart) Let steep until the water is warm add 2 cups honey and continue steeping until cool strain out the thyme and put in the fridge take a tablespoon at a time as needed it will last 3 months in the fridge there is no limit on how much you can take and it will alleviate your cough about as long as OTC cough meds will. misty > > misty -is this tea bought or madeif so how?? need help real congested deep cough and hurting back etc from flu > thanks > > eileen
Guest guest
Come to think of it, Eat Well Feel Well has a recipe for something like this, but made into little sucking candies for coughs. Made to taste like Ricola or something. Guest guest
eileen, check out this link. it's a little different than the cough syrup i make but give a good explanation of what thyme does for a cough. http://www.ehow.com/how_4683009_treat-cough-naturally.html or http://tinyurl.com/d5tu96 Article: 1. Prepare a jar of thyme honey and keep it on hand. Fill a jar half full of fresh thyme sprigs, or if no fresh thyme is available, use 1/4 jar of dried thyme. Pour enough honey over the thyme to fill the jar. Put a good tight lid on it and turn daily in order to mix the thyme in with the honey. Two to three days will be enough, but I like to just let the thyme settle to the bottom and leave it in the honey 2 When you get a cough, squeeze the juice of ½ of a lemon into a cup, fill the cup with boiling water and add a teaspoon of the thyme honey. Sit and sip it slowly, allowing the lemon and honey to sooth the throat as it goes down. Thyme will not only quiet a cough, but will also help expel mucous. Two to three cups of this tea can be taken a day. misty > > will it break up congestion or stop cough?? ended up in ER for chest > x-ray bloodwork as per docs orders all good - just feel like death!!! > thanks eileen
