Guest guest
Jill honey, I think this may be on the lines of the newspaper clipping that was sent around that everyone was concerned about. I too got an email a couple of weeks ago. Some woman telling me that she had lost 150lbs and wondered if I wanted to " join " her in the program that she used. That I didn't need something as radical as surgery. Even sent me her " before " and " after " pictures. I hit the delete key and took the pics off my HD. I really wanted to write her and say, " Been there, done that, more times than I can count--I could write several books about it!! " LOL Most people do not understand----heck *I* didn't understand until a couple of months ago. Rest, relax, all you have to do is come to the group to get reassurance. Do you know for sure if this person she was talking about had this particular procedure, or just a surgery for weight loss? Dr R is VERY open and will tell you who of any of his patients have had complications of ANY kind, and encourages us to ask questions. He does have one heck of a track record. :-)) Relax, please don't be afraid to come to us if this happens again. We are here to offer you support. :-) fg At 08:29 PM 03/05/2000 EST, you wrote: >From: jme1969@... > >I am so mad, I just got an email from someone I don't even know telling me >not to have the surgery. Guest guest
LOL Sorry I could not pass this one up. Subject: Password... A female computer consultant was helping a smug male set up his computer and she asked him what word he would like to use as a password to log in with. Wanting to see if he could embarrass this presumptuous female, he told her to enter the word " PENIS " . Without blinking or saying a word she entered the proposed password. She almost died laughing at the computer's response: " PASSWORD REJECTED. NOT LONG ENOUGH "

Guest guest
Lana, We have had our son on the diet now 6 months. I have learned that I need to cook what he will eat, not what I think he should eat. JJ turns his nose up at fruit, so I think you are doing great. & Garry, parents of (10 ds), (9 ds/g-tube), JJ (6 ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds), and Esther (3 ds). All adopted. Guest guest
Thanks. That helps. Actually he likes fish so I trying to imitate the frozen breaded form. I do agree that he eats fruits so I should be ok with this for now. Lana
Guest guest
To Mache and all those just starting out and hitting brick walls... It seems several people have posted in a panic lately after a sudden change to GFCF. Most people agree that it is best to remove caseine and gluten more gradually. The recommendation I have seen most is remove casiene first, wait 2 weeks, then begin removing gluten. Take the milk away and try to find a replacement that they like. I personally suggest vanilla flavlored Silk (soy), or Dari-free (potato). Silk is widely available and is still my son's favorite. Everyone else in the family prefers Dari-free which we order from http://www.abersoldfoods.com/. This diet does work for autistic children. It is well worth the effort, but you don't have to do it all in one day. Step back, do a little planning. In the first couple of weeks without milk, start trying GF foods. Find some you can rely on so that when you are ready to go GFCF you are prepared. This diet brings hope, it doesn't have to be heartbreaking (although it does have its moments). Hang in there, Debbie > From: liu@... > Reply-To: GFCFKidsegroups > Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 08:39:03 -0700 > To: GFCFKidsegroups > Subject: Re: (no subject) > > Hi everybody, > > My son started on the GFCF diet yesterday. Guest guest
I would say start with one meal gluten, casein free. I did the same t hing as you did. Think of it this way: What if all your favorite foods were taken away and you were given some very strange things that tasted different? I would reject them too. Just hang in there. Try mixing his foods he likes with the new ones. Lana
Guest guest
I tried corn pops with no luck. He does not eat much bread so that was not much of an issue. Now, I am restarting with only making dinner gluten free casein free. I am hoping that mixing his regular foods with new ones he will try it better. Guest guest
get a book called " special diet solutions......healthy cooking without wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, yeast, or refined sugar. " no sugar is good if your child has yeast difficulties in his bowel ( many autistics do) but this book is very good because it lists several alternatives that are safe and healthy. Replacements for sugar, flour , wheat etc.
Guest guest
should be ok if your child has no problems with yeast overgrowth. If you want to be GFCF the only sure way is contact the company yourself and ask the right questions. :-)
