Guest guest
I have to agree--if you're going to try the SC diet, please read " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " and follow it stringently for one month. You should be feeling better by then if it's the right diet for you. My dd's GI doc said we can clearly see the SC diet is right for her b/c she has gained tonsof weight and inches on the SC diet. Before, we were stuffing her full of ice cream shakes and protein powder and all she was doing was losing weight. As her GI pointed out, we had to give her food she could digest before she could get any benefit from it. Good luck. Ellen in Boston 11 y /o dd w. Crohn's scd since 5/06. Guest guest
I am one month into SCD and starting to feel a lot better. I would love to gain 10 -15 lbs this year (at least) and would like to start keeping track of my calories. My question is though – how do you know how many calories all things baked with almond flour are? Guest guest
i use fitday.com to check once in a while to see what i'm getting you'd have to look at almonds pecans etc and then try to figure how much you're getting per serving, bit tricky eileen > > > > I am very thin, but want some relief so I want to be disciplined and > > try this diet Again. > > > > 1-I do not know how to get sufficient amount of calories with this > diet. > > 2-Can I eat Beef Jerkey? > > 3-Is it ok to still take my Protein shakes? Guest guest
> 1-I do not know how to get sufficient amount of calories with this diet. DCCC, butter, olive oil, avacado, banana, honey. the cheesecake is delicious and full of calories/fat. there are plenty of ways to get sufficient calories. don't let that hold you back. and eat plenty of meals each day. i probably eat 5 meals each day and have been on the diet for 1 year. i started the diet at 126 and my weight has fluctuated from 123 - 131 over the last year. i'm 5'4 " so that's a good weight. once you can tolerate yogurt you can make yogurt from heavy cream and that will add a lot of calories. > 2-Can I eat Beef Jerkey? beef jerky is very advanced. boiled eggs are pretty portable. i carried them and a salt and pepper shaker with me the first few months on the diet. they were a real life saver. i can eat beef jerky from time to time but my digestion still doesn't tolerate it in large amounts. > 3-Is it ok to still take my Protein shakes? They are Whey Protein powder and I use Water, Not milk.. They are high in carbs, but im guessing they are monosacharrides, which the SCD diet likes. NO!!!!!!! > 4-No Milk WHATSOEVER? NO > Will Eating Dannon yogurt from the food store ruin the diet? Or is that ok. No, it has to be made in accordance with the BTVC. commercial yogurts are only fermented for about 4 hours and that doesn't get enough lactose out. scd yogurt is fermented for 24 hours turning most of the lactose into galactose (monosaccharide). > thank you much you are welcome and good luck to you!!!! Guest guest
I use the Fitday computer program. You can " create " custom foods by adding all the ingredients of a dish, and then telling it how many servings it comprises. The program then does all the work of figuring out the number of calories and nutrients based on how many servings you eat. I'm not sure if this option is available with the free account on their site though. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > > > I am one month into SCD and starting to feel a lot better.
