Karlyn,

The psychatrist makes some good points, and truly

there is alot of stress involved with this procedure.

Don't give up, follow a weight loss program and talk

with your surgeon. This process doesn't resolve over

night and maybe they would be willing to give you

counseling in lieu of waiting a long period. Just a

thought.

Hi everyone-

I am new here too. Sort off. I have been lurking for a while looking for

guidance and support and want you all to know how much you all give to me each

and every day. I had my gastric bypass on June 20th. I lost some weight by

that date and had a surgery date weight of 218.5. To date which is almost

at the two month mark I only weigh 191. I feel like I am a failure and I

should have lost more. What am I doing wrong? I don't cheat and eat the right

foods and get my protein in and usually get in all my water or at least 6

glasses. I exercise 5 days a week. I feel like my weight is stagnating

already.

I was eyeballing food portions and then I got scared maybe the slow weight

loss was because I stretched my pouch already and my doctor merely dismissed

it without discussion. I went back to weighing and measuring but am still

scared I messed up and stretched something by eating too much of the right

foods. I also hate that I get no side effects like dumping or frothing as it

leaves it up to me to know when I am doing right and this slow loss is killing

my self-image and now I am questioning my judgements.

Everyone is saying-- " oh you lost so much weight in your face " and I know

they mean well but all I hear is all those fat years of people saying " but you

have such a pretty face " .

I know I am rambling and I apologize--I guess for someone that usually

doesn't share that's what happens but it's worse cause my dr although a genius

at

surgery is a bit dismissive with concerns.

Hi Bonnie.

Welcome to the group.

First, posts like this drive me nuts. Honestly. However, I am not

being dismissive or sarcastic. No doubt I had the same fears when I

was a newbie.

To answer your question, it doesn't sound like you are doing

anything wrong. IT IS WHAT IT IS. Everybody has their own unique

metabolism and some people burn fat faster than others.

You say you exercise. Unless you are doing fat burning drenced in

sweat exercise you will not drop tons of weight from exercise.

Exercise can help boost your metabolism and tone your body but

simple strolling around the block will not creat aerobic and cardio

fitness let alone fat burning.

Stop stressing about the numbers on the scale. ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Eat right, exercise, be happy and be active. Don't stress about not

losing enough.

When I hear this question from people about not losing enough weight

I say this. SO WHAT? If you are a slow loser, deal with it. Why

stress over something you can't control. IT IS WHAT IT IS!

It's like the story of the tortoise and the hare. Who cares how fast

you get to goal. The point is to reach your destination and learn

the healthy habits to maintain your loss for a lifetime.

BTW, yesterday I found a pair of beaded jeans pushed to the back of

my closet. I bought them to wear to a friend's birthday party in May

2005. They are a size 6. I had almost forgotten about them and

thought they wouldn't fit me anymore because I am in menopause and

my waistline has spread. I almost fell over when they slid on and

still fit. The waistband is a bit snug but they are comfortable.

MY POINT? I never reached my goal weight. BUT most importantly, I

have maintained the 141 [ one hundred and forty one] pound weight

loss now for almost 2 years. The proof is in the mirror. I used to

eat my way out of clothes in a weekend. I can still wear all the new

clothes I bought almost 2 years ago!!! I am thrilled! My goal was to

become healthy and active. I live my new lifestyle.

Look down the road. Don't stress about today. Every week your weight

loss will add up. A pound here, a pound there. It all adds up. Be

happy with your weight loss. Think about your success in achieving

WLS approval. Compare your weight with were you were a year ago.

Compete with yourself, NOT others. We are all unique.

Good luck in your WLS journey. Thank you for being here.

Bonnie,

You have done fantastic with your weight loss. Well done. We all have times

during our weight loss where we don't lose anything for a while even though we

might be doing everything right. Our body needs to catch up with what is

happening to it. Don't get discouraged because before you know it the weight

will start to come off again. We are all here for you.

Hi Bonnie! Congrats on your surgery. You were 3 days before me.Maybe

you aren't losing that much or that fast because you don't have that

much to lose,if that makes sense to you.Thats how I would see it

anyway. If the dr is happy with your progress,I wouldn't worry.

Good lUck to you.
