Guest guest
Hi! I just joined the group, in hopes of educating myself and hopefully helping a friend. I just got off the phone with my friend, whom I have known for 25 years, who has fibromyalgia and ptsd, and is ready to give up. I can't divulge her name, because she may join the group too, and I honor her privacy. I guess what she needs the most is prayer. She has tried every option available to her through her California HMO, and is still in pain, just existing rather than living. She can't sleep, is in a brain fog, and medications work for a short time then her body adjusts to them and they stop working. She was raised a Christian, but after so many years of pain and suffering, she doesn't believe anyone " up there " cares for her. She posted on another fibro board, looking for someone local to talk to, who would understand, and because she gave personal info--her email address--she was kicked off the board. She emailed me asking if I, who live halfway across the country, could help her locate someone in her area (central California)who has fibro and would be willing to talk and share with her. I sent her a list of local support groups, and a link to this Yahoo group. I know the power of prayer, and although she resists my attempts to lead her back to her faith, I still " preach " . Thank you for letting me join, and for any advice and/or offers of local support you may offer. FAITH NOT FEAR.

To all who read this I don't mean the following as a shout or yell, just that I am having difficulty typing in upper & lower case tonight!!! > I THINK THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE HERE WHO MAYBE FROM CALIFORNIA!!! THERE IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT I FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LYRICA PAGE AND THAT IS THAT THEY DO HELP PEOPLE WHO MIGHT TAKE THAT DRUG BUT CANNOT AFFORD IT. THERE IS ALSO THE ONE GROUP MONTIEL WILLIAMS IS BEHIND --- I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME BUT I DO KNOW THAT IT ALSO HELPS PATIENTS WITH DRUGS. AND I KNOW THAT THERE ARE MANY OF US HERE WHO OFTEN IF NOT ALWAYS FIND THEMSELVES IN PAIN. WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN WAYS OF COPING, I AM FORTUNE THAT MY HUSBAND DOES SEEM TO UNDERSTAND AND IS SUPPORTIVE, ALTHOUGH I SOMETIMES WONDER IF THERE WILL COME TIME WHEN HE WON'T! WE BOTH DO SOME OF THE NECESSARY THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE. I CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO ONE OF MY MAJOR PROBLEMS IN THE KITCHEN A YEAR OR SO AGO -- BECAUSE OF MY HEIGHT, LEANING OVER THE SINK HURTS MY BACK A GREAT DEAL AS DOES LOADING & UNLOADING THE DISHWASHER. SO I THOUGHT ABOUT IT FOR A WHILE AND DECIDED ONE OF THE OLD ROUND PIANO STOOLS THAT TURNS WOULD WORK VERY WELL! SO I FOUND ONE ON EBAY, BID AND ONE! SELLER MEASURED IT FOR ME AND FOUND IT AN INTERESTING SOLUTION FOR MY KITCHEN CHOIRS!! I ALSO HAVE USED ONE OF THE GARDEN BUDDIES TO HELP WITH PICKING SOME ITEMS OFF THE FLOOR --- ALTHOUGH THAT IS NOW ON THE PORCH AS WE ARE TRYING TO GET READY FOR MOVING NEXT SUMMER WHEN MY HUSBAND RETIRES! Guest guest
> > I THINK THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE HERE WHO MAYBE FROM CALIFORNIA!!! > Thank you . If anyone lives in the Sacramento area, and is willing to offer support to my friend, you could send me an email and if you approved, I could forward it to her. Basically she is looking for someone in her area who has FM and who she could talk to. She is married, around 40, and highly educated, has a great sense of humor and a big heart. If any of the above is inappropriate, I apologize.

Guest guest
Please let her know this is a great group of people who are here to listen and understand. It might be of benefit to her to join here. There are several people here from Ca. I hope someone near her can get to know her. Take care, Debra V. wife_of_skysoldier wrote: Hi! Guest guest
Hi and Welcome to the group, It is really great that you are such a good friend. I'm sure you can find out a lot of info on this site to help your friend. It's hard not to feel like giving up when you've been in pain and everything else so long. If anything helping to instill hope in your friend is the best thing you can do. Without hope we are nothing and believe in nothing. I've said this before on here, but convincing you friend that there is always change. It a constant in the Universe and with help her plight can change too. I know there are several people on this site from California so maybe you can find someone for her to talk to. Joining the site is a good idea too. I have felt a lot less lonely now that I am a member and feel the love and support of the group. Good luck, Marti wife_of_skysoldier wrote: Hi!
