Mindy,

I had open RNY 11/18/03 and my incision is still draining. I've

seen the Dr. several times (my paranoia) and he says as long as it's

pink (serus fluid mixed with blood) it's OK. I even had a large

bulge of skin popping through! This came off and it's still

draining. That's OK, because I don't want this building upo inside,

which would cause infection.

The Dr. put silver nitrate on a wand and poked it into the incision

last week (EEEK! what a funny feeling, but no pain). This

cauterizes the area and helps scar formation. My incision is much

better, but still draining.

Try a " mepilex border " silicone/foam bandage. It's great on the

skin and can stay on 24 hours. I just ordered more $47.50 for 5,

but well worth it.

Anyway, try not to worry. You made it through surgery. YIPEEEEE!
