The last 2 weeks I have had such swelling and of course one cannot take a water pill on Sotalol. Thank goodness I see my Gen. Prac. tomarrow at 2PM. My ankles are out over the edge of my shoes. I do not have any real heart prob. aside from the AFib. no lung prob. either. Don't use salt try to read all labels to prevent too much sodium. This does not feel like swelling I used to get when standing all day cutting hair. It happens after I up and around and lasts all day getting worse as the day wears on. Thanks in advance. Sandi I used to get swelling in my feet when driving long distances. I don't know if was the rythmol (I am now taking amiodarone)or atenolol but I never had problems before. It may be the lower heart rate caused by the atenolol but I don't have the problem nearly as much as before, maybe my body began to accommodate the atenolol. Anyway, Sotalol also has a beta blocker effect so maybe your heart rate is not fast enough to pump the fluid up from your feet. One thing that solved my problem while driving was to wear knee high compression hose. You might try them. There sort of a problem getting them on but they work. Guest guest
A little earlier there was a discussion about swelling. It appears that the calcium blockers can cause swelling of the feet/legs. Do both feet/legs swell equally or does one tend to swell more than the other? I've been troubled recently with my right leg swelling a lot. Trying to figure out whether it is calcium blocker or something I should be more concerned about. Judy Judith B. Guest guest
Judy, My ep put me on 480mg of verapamil daily. My ankles, feet, and fingers swelled.I told him I was cutting back to 240mg daily. The swelling went away in one day.I'm now taking 120mg daily and everything seems to be normal. The ep told me that verapamil is both a bp and a rate control med. Guest guest
Andree are we not supposed to ever lift with that arm even if it was a lumpectomy? My rads doc did mention possibility of Lymphedema but hasn't said anything about lifting so far.
