Guest guest
I agree that everyone is different, which is why we shouldn't accuse someone of being a liar when they state they lost 25 lbs in a two-week period because everyone IS different, and it very well could be the truth. I only lost about 10-13 lbs the first two week period, but that is probably because I started at 230 lbs, not 400 lbs, and frankly, I don't work very hard at it. Despite my not exercising, or really working very hard on my weight loss, it does keep coming off gradually. Basically I can expect to lose 5 lbs a month at the minimum simply because, due to the band, I can't eat a great deal of food, and can't eat many of the things that put the pounds on such as breads and carbohydrates such as potatoes. This week is my 6 month anniversary of having my lap-band, and I am down to 189 lbs, that is 41 lbs in six months. And as I said, I truly don't exercise, nor do I really diet. I eat what I like and I don't deprive myself of any food including ice cream and chocolates if that is what I want. I am very satisfied with the gradual weight loss and don't regret the surgery for a second. I have numerous friends who had the more invasive, and much more expensive bypass surgery, and I'm really glad I chose the lap-band over that procedure. Besides saving myself $15,000, part of which I used to take my kids and myself on a 7 country tour of Europe last month, I don't have any of the side-effects they have with their bypass such as feeling weak or nauseous, and I actually seem to be losing the same amount of weight as they are. I don't post here much, but I just thought I'd chime in with my experiences, and my opinion that we really do need to take people at their word because everyone IS different and some people may just take longer to lose the weight, such as myself. But it will eventually come off. C. DOB 3/13/06 DOB 5/9/06 .8 cc 230/189/145 Re: I need help If you think we're all liars, why join our message board? Guest guest
I eat what I like and I don't deprive myself of any food including ice cream and chocolates Sounds like you have done awesome !! way to go. I have a client that had the band in the US and she has lost like 50 some pounds and she lost pretty fast, like 2-3 months. But she is now past the honeymoon phase and is starting to slack off some. she said that ice-cream goes down so easy that she if finding herself indulging more than she should. that will probably be my weakness to! I love ice-cream. so I will have to be careful. But do you know what i have always enjoyed? sugar free puddings. that helps me get through the tough spots, because they are low cal, no sugar and low carb! also sugar free fudge pops. but the sugar free candy that stuff sucks! well it tastes good, but it gives you the runs and it has just as many calories, fats and carbs as regular candy. a gal I work with eats them like they are going out of style and she thinks she is being healthy by doing that. but I dont agree. I would rather eat some real chocolate!! :-) But I am still in the pre-band league. :-) but I am going to be with you soon. I got my tickets and my date and I am just waiting the days to pass by!! :-) > > > > > > > > All, > > > > > > > > I had my surgery last Friday. I am having a hard time not > > > eating. Guest guest
Congratulations on having the band date scheduled. The time will come and go very quickly. You'll be spoiled at the hospital. It is more like a four star hotel than a hospital because they treat you so well. Take Care, C. Guest guest
Hi, I have diffuse scleroderma without internal involvement. I was soooo sick at first...it came on like a vengence. I was given disability very fast and I know why....they thought I was on the road to death. Now, that was in 2001. Yes, I have claw hands and tight skin. Yes, I have had at least 2 episodes of remission and the sd coming back. My research doc says she would love to know why I get better and the next patient doesn't. These diseases are so individual. I really believe we need to think before we advise anyone...because it scares you so much. I remember people asking me how long I had to live. No one knows that answer.
