The zithromax I took just it not with mepron and for me I would get

very sleepy.

This would be a couple of hours later. It was hard to connect it with

the zithromax because sleepiness is one of my worst sympotms.

I started taking it at night and then during the day after around noon

the sleepiness would hit again for the rest of the day.

I went back to see the LLD for my second appt about a month ago and he

had me stop it and gave me different medications for coinfections.

So after I stopped a couple of weeks later the sleepiness did get somse

better.

I take a stimulant to help me stay awake and it helps me but when I was

on the zithromax it didn't do much good.

Also they told me that zithromax stays in your system for something

like 10 days to 2 weeks.

Rose, I used Zithro form my PM. I do not have RA but

the Zithro worked well for the PM. I used it because

it is easier for my system to tolerate. Only had to

take 250 mgs three days per week then taper down from

there over a three year period. I have been off all

treatment for the past 4 months and (knock on

wood)still doing very well.

Hope that this helps,

Rose,

I took Minocycline for about 1 year, after I was diagnosed with RA. I developed

a sensitivity to it so my doctor put me on Zithromax, at 250mgs 3x/week. I've

been on that dose for about 6 years now, and have been in remission for about 4

years. I've never had any nasty side effects from it, and I plan on taking it

forever, if I must, in order to stay in remission. If I can answer any more

questions for you, please feel free to email me at: willson@...

Debbie,

I'm not sure if it is the generic, but that's what I

take and have been taking for years now. No side

effects for me, but I do take probiotics daily.

I've run into similar problems with certain generics of Minocyn and

Diflucan not working. Unfortunately my insurance won't pay for brand

name when generics exist. I have found one of the generics for Zithro

250mg works well. I don't know the brand name but its a white pill

instead of the usual red/pinkish pills. However I did recently take red

500mg generic Zithro pills that did work. Didn't pay attention to the

name other than its in a green and white package.

I forgot to add I'll find out the generic manufacturer's name for

the Zithro that works. My dr just switched me to Zithro for two

months. Because of the Lyme disease I am doing the Schardt protocol

which alternates 50 days of Diflucan then 50 days of antibiotics.

Later this week I will be picking up the Zithro and will find out

the manufacturer for you.

I thought because of the dosing Minocin has to be taken 3 times a

day. However you can take both Minocin and Zithromax at the same

time because that is what my Lyme doctor had me taking for months.

And actually I was taking Flagyl 3 times a day along with it!

Zithro has a long half life so you can split the dosage up if its

500mg and take 250mg twice a day. Or you can take the whole dose of

Zithro in the AM or PM which ever works best for you. Just remember

to separate your Zithro dose by at least 4 hours from calcium,

magnesium and iron or you will bind up the Zithro and make it not

work. That goes for supplements as well as food containing those

minerals.

Pain while taking Zithro in the first 1-4 weeks suggests Lyme

infection especially if the pain is in the knees. Lyme spirochetes

are very susceptible to Zithro. Did the dr ever suggest the RA is

Lyme related?

One way of dealing with the herxes believe it or not is to take a

low dose of Benedryl. Preferably the children's dye free liquid

Benedryl. This is according to my Lyme doc. It helped me. His

alternate suggest was olive oil and lemon mixed in water though I

could never bring myself to drink that.

, from an oldie, I can assure you many of us cut our teeth early on

in these diseases by drinking the olive oil, lemon and water drink....but we

also added GARLIC to the mix. I must have done this daily for three years.

It really isn't bad once you get used to it and time it so that you don't

smell like garlic in public.

I did not say I don't NEED it any more but getting well has a lot of hills

and trails to go down and I have been down a bunch of them. Our bodies are

just eaten up with YEAST. I still take this but not like I used to. Why?

Because I am in remission and am SOOOO careful to keep my yeast at bay with my

DIET and the probiotics. I do cleanses every four to six months. I am very,

very careful as this disease has my full attention and respect. I found out

that yeast was a grand player in this and I have worked hard to keep it down.

This is one way to help jumpstart your body naturally and to learn to do

every possible thing that you can to get well. For several years there, I have

one son who would walk into the house and complain that he could tell I had

taken my drink that day as I reeked. He was right. And then on another

note, nobody in my family will take my sinus rinse.......until they are really

sick. Then, they will. Hope this helps.

ps on an interesting note, my husband who has elected to be treated the

conventional route for cancer, has a huge yeast problem. The first thing they

did was give him his new diet instructions. I already knew this diet. It is

probably still here at the support site. They want his body as alkaline as I

can keep it for him. Perhaps, not in my lifetime, but my children's, we will

get there in making this connection public.

Actually 50 days on diflucan is no big deal if you do it right.

thousands of people are doing the protocol. As part of the protocol Dr.

Schardt says to stop taking anything that also uses the CYP3A4 liver

pathway. So I had to stop Diltizem while on the Diflucan. The

interesting thing is my liver enzymes were already elevated and once I

did the first 50 days of Diflucan my liver enzymes all went back to

normal! Which one dr suggested that meant the Lyme was in my liver and

the Diflucan had eradicated those spirochetes. I went back on Diltizem

to see if I could handle it with the Diflucan and it only elevated the

enzymes slightly.

I have more energy than I have had in ages and feel better on Diflucan

than I did previously when I was solely on antibiotics for the Lyme.

Here's an interview with Dr. Shardt to learn more about the protocol.

http://www.immunesupport.com/library/showarticle.cfm/id/6431

He also has his own website in German if anyone would like that URL. I

run it through Babelfish to translate it.

I think because I grew up in the South the idea of consuming olive

oil was entirely alien to me. And the suggestion of drinking it in

water repulsive. lol Sorry I can't try the Garlic suggestion

because I am very allergic to Garlic. If I consume Garlic I have

trouble breathing. It was suggested the reason is the sulfur it

contains, but really no idea. I just started getting weird food

reactions in the past several years after contracting Lyme. But I

was also struck in the stomach by lightning so I sometimes think

that might have caused the food reactions too. Also have IBS now and

didn't used to.
