I hate to need to explain too - no way it won't sound silly - and avoid it but

finally had to try to explain to my daughter because she refers to my not

driving into Albuquerque as " reluctance " that she " understands " (not really) but

is too busy to cater to (since " reluctance " is all it really is).

Hi ,

My daughter calls it a phobia - my not driving to malls or into Hartford. She

puts up with me and drives me to my doctors appointments if they are far away,

but not anywhere else. She says it's because I have to get over my " phobia " of

driving and going to malls. She says she would be enabling me if she drove me

shopping or anywhere but to the doctor's or for tests.

I just love it when people who don't even try to understand, I've certainly

given her enough literature and she's on the internet all the time researching

stuff, decide for me the reason I'm not doing something. I guess she knows my

mind better than I do.

It is fear that keeps me from doing it, but not the kind of fear she's talking

about. If someone will drive me, I'll go anywhere. Or even if someone goes

with me, who could drive my car home if need be. My fear is having the fibro

wall hit me in the face and not even knowing how to get home or being in so much

pain that I can't think. I wish she could get in my body for just a little

while and feel the way I feel - I did say just a little while. I'm not a sadist

either. LOL

I'm sorry you have that problem with your daughter not understanding too and

deciding for herself what the reason you do or don't do things is.
