Guest guest
- that's a good point. You're so right that learning to maintain when things are happening around us is a challenge in itself...and one that we need to learn to handle. Like you, I want this to be successful for me for the rest of my life. And that will clearly include challenges like parties and holidays and lots of other things! I think it's a huge thing that you've realized we can even get through times when our self-motivation takes a dive. That we can even learn to handle times of discouragement and lack of motivation and yet pick ourselves back up and carry on. Don't you love discovering all this? I know I'm learning things I never even knew I needed to learn! Bette
Guest guest
Thanks!! I guess no one can really motivate someone else, but rather that person has to motivate himself or herself. We can offer support and encouragement and be there for each other and understand what we're going through. I think that when I lost weight before I'd GET THAT MOTIVATION and then I'd think that I would never lose it and when I wavered, I'd get discouraged and let go. I now realize that it's inevitable and normal to have those slipping days or that de decline in motivation and I've learned to not let go when that happens. Before it would really surprise me when I'd lose the intense motivation and then get really down but sometimes the hardest thing to do is " remain " --it's easy to come and go but to maintain is at times the hardest. I think that I have to realize that this first part of the year is hard for me with the birthday parties, Valentine's Day, committees that have projects and just go with the flow of it. Some of it is of my own doing, to have parties every single year and to do the committees ( I could say no...)--I wouldn't really want it any other way, just a little bit of breathing room every now and then...lol!! / What Should I eat for lunch today???? Hi , I wondered where you had gone. Glad to hear you're still here! I'm sorry you're struggling with this time of year, but at least you're treading water. That, in my opinion, is much better than sinking to the bottom! I'm not sure that I'm the one to give you advice for how to get that inner motivation you need. Motivation seems to come from nowhere.... or not come at all. Others on this list have suggested going back to the Getting Started booklet...it seems that it's very common to lose enthusiasm and just need to read about it again, to be reminded of how it all works. Of course, I could ask you --- Are you counting? Measuring? Journaling? If so, good. Then maybe you need to look at *what* you're eating (too many refined carbs? Not enough protein? Too many Smart Ones cones?) And if not, why not. We know the program works when we do those three things!! Gosh, I'm beginning to sound like your mother. Or my mother. Somebody's mother! LOL --Sorry about that. I guess my bottom-line advice is DON'T give up! Take a fresh look, forget the " reasons " why this is a hard time for you and get OP!! Anyway, thanks for the support and I'm hanging in there, at least treading water isn't sinking as you said!! I'm here and thinking about all of you on the list for good success...
