Guest guest
HI Bart, I am glad to hear that the phosphorus control and hydrocortisone cream/antihistamines are helping the itching! Guest guest
Put me in the category of those with IgAN who aren't sick anymore often than other people. In fact, during the 25 plus years I had IgAN, I was probably less sick than other people who didn't have IgAN. I think this can go both ways. On the other hand, I think that those times when I *was* sick, I was sicker than the average person. A cold or a flu would really knock me out for a long time - but I didn't have them anymore often than the average person though. Now, maybe 1 or 2 a year, not the 1 a month I was getting back then. > > I have actually avoided most of the infections (colds, etc) that have been around me, which I think is amazing considering the immunosuppressants I am on. > > I hope you are able to get past this. > >
Guest guest
Hi, I am with Bart also with this one. Mostly my complaint is about fatigue, but I am also anemic and get ProCrit about every 3-4 weeks. My first session with (maybe)IgaN was 40 years ago after a strep infection which blasted my kidneys into a rusty river. I spent 28 days in the hospital that time and enjoyed exceptional health for the next 40 years...then IgaN reared it's ugly head. So far in the 3 years that I have had it (only diagnosed with biopsy this March) I have not been sick with a cold, flu or anything else that suggests my system is upset. We are all difference here and yet some things are similar. I do hope you are able to get over these bouts of sickness. Take Care.......Gloria > I am with Pierre on this one. Guest guest
, In the months prior to my diagnosis I had: Strep, sinus infection, food poisoning, strep again, sinus infection again (this is the one where they found my b/p to be 173/116 and the resulting blood work showed my creatinine level to be high) Since my diagnosis I've been on prednisone so I tend to be sick with a minor cold to major stuff like the recent salivary gland infection at least monthly. I know it's more due to the prednisone at this point however. Prior to my dx I think it was due to the high toxin levels in my system as I was dealing with nephrotic syndrome at the time. I hope you can find a good balance in your system. Have you tried taking acidophilus tablets or eating yogurt with live cultures in it? My husband finds they help to keep his system in balance. Amy G. Sickness Has anyone that has been diagnosed with IGAn expirience more than frequent infections. I seem to be sick at least once a month, be it a soar throat, sinus infection or bronchitis. I was diagnosed with IGAn after a bout with a strep infection that got into my blood and landed in my kidneys. was in the hospital for about a week. That was about 2 years ago. I appreciate everyones advice or expirence in advance. thanks jason To edit your settings for the group, go to our Yahoo Group home page: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iga-nephropathy/ To unsubcribe via email, iga-nephropathy-unsubscribe Visit our companion website at www.igan.ca.
