Guest guest
, did you read my post about the rate your MD site? You could go there and check to see if there isn't a better doctor in your area. My doctor, bless his heart, would never say such a thing. I don't think doctors lose their licenses unless they knowingly prescribe for addicts or for 'sale'. Arizona is one of the 'tightest' states when it comes to narcotic prescribing. I found this out the hard way, after moving here from Washington. My doctors in Washington NEVER made a 'big deal' out of prescribing pain meds. None of them. Ever. I like to think it had something to do with the fact they knew I didn't 'abuse' the meds, but... I also know that back in the seventies, AZ wasn't this paranoid either, as I got my first migraine while living here, and it was treated by an injection of demerol, and I was sent home with a prescription of them as well. However, times have changed, and apparently the fact that we are on the border has changed things. Whatever the reason, in as long as I've been back here, no other doctor in this place would prescribe pain meds till I found this one. He makes 'no bones about it'. He simply has you sign a 'pain contract', no biggie. You theoretically may be asked to bring your bottle(s) in to be counted, but he has never done this to me. You also swear that you will not sell, give away, or otherwise illegally use your meds. In exchange, he promises to treat your pain by whatever methods necessary to provide relief. End of story. He has me on 10 mgs of methadone twice a day and 5 mgs of oxycodone for break-through pain. I have an appointment with him tomorrow, and am going to ask for something rather than the methadone, as I don't like the side-effects of it. It's not horrible, but slightly uncomfortable. I am going to ask for oxycontin, though I don't know if they are covered by my insurance. If I were to run out of pain meds a day or two early, I know he would give me more. So far, it hasn't been a problem, as he gives me 150 oxy tabs a month. It WOULD be a problem with the methadone, as it would be dangerous to take too many of them. I'm just sayin'...find a new doctor!!! Peace and Love Caroline What a drag it was. She uped my Lyrica to 300mg. perday which is what it takes to be effective. She wrote me a prescription for Darvecet N-100 and said here goes my license. How lame,30 Darvecet for 30days. Meanwhile my Lyrica is working well! I have my down days that 5mg. of Oxycodone might remedy. If my PCP looses her license back to India and foreget the American Dream ! VENT!!! I'm still HAPPY to be a member of this WONDERFUL group. I LOVE YOU ALL ! ! ! GOD Bless YOU ALL ! ! ! . . . ____________________________________________________________ FREE 3D MARINE AQUARIUM SCREENSAVER - Watch dolphins, sharks & orcas on your desktop!
