Hi Anne,

When I take a oatmeal bath I put the oatmeal in a wash cloth and close it

with a rubber band and toss it in the water, then when the oats get wet

the oatmeal liquid oozes out of the cloth and I put it on my poor

hives. I also use alcohol with wintergreen (have a towel soaked

with it on my back as I type), Sarna lotion, Psoriasin gel, aloe vera,

Campho phenique and solarcaine, none work as good as a product I used to

use which isn't made any more called uni-cure aloe vera, that made my

hives dissapear and I miss it. Oh well...:)

Dear Fellow Itchers,

I have found that when my itching gets really out of hand, I tend to

itch

myself maniacally, which makes me redder and worse.

Oatmeal baths have proven to be somewhat soothing (at least as good

as

antihistamines, which haven't done much for me other than make me hyper

and

shake like mad). I have tried to substitute rubbing mineral oil on my

body

for itching like crazy. It's not bad, either.

Does anyone have any other topical " fix it " treatments along

these lines?

I'd love to hear them.

By the way, I make the oatmeal bath myself. The way I go through it,

it

would be quite expensive to buy Aveeno or whatnot. I buy rolled oats in

bulk

and then whirl them in the food processor and put them in a

Tupperware

container by the bathtub.

Yours,

Anne Landers

Anne landers, Now there's a name...I like the idea about the

blended oatmeal...My son however is in the Army and you know its

just showers for him...However, even though it is more expensive,

have you ever tried the Aveeno for baby's...just wondering if it

may be milder and may work better..Let me know...Thanks for the

oatmeal recipe...I may just blend him some and send it to him to

rub on during the shower. take care
