Guest guest
Jodi, So, my hair is now coming out in masses. It's so thin already I'm scared I'm going to have to wear a wig soon. I'm only 31. Could you provide a link to the shampoo and brush you use? I've tried so many shampoos and nothing seems to help. Also, do you use conditioner? I'm willing to try anything. My brush is as full after 1 brushing now as it used to be in a whole week. I'm seriously worried. I can't afford to go to the doctor right now. I switched to natural shampoos a couple years ago. I've tried using different brands with no color, no fragrance, no sulfates/sulfites and nothing seems to help so far. Every once in a while, I slip and get this one shampoo/conditioner I really love. Usually when I'm feeling kind of down. The smell puts me in a better mood. Weird, but it's very comforting. I've been trying to stay away from sulfates and sulfites for a long time. I'm so worried about my hair right now. Currently, I take the multi vitamin and B vitamin from Lucy's. I recently started taking fish oil. I try to eat a good balanced diet, but for the last 2 months I keep messing up and having to go back intro. I know I need to get to a doctor and have things checked out, but I just don't have the money. I'm at a total loss on what to do. I know if I saved the money I would spend on shampoos and vitamins and supplements, that I could eventually afford to go to the doctor LOL. Anybody take legal biotin? Guest guest
Ohh Misty, I am so so sorry. Loosing my hair was really the thing that pushed me over the edge in this whole world of illness and suffering I went through. It made me beyond depressed. Hard to get out of bed in the morning. I had bouts of just wanting to cease to exist because of this. Really hit me hard. I am so sorry you are going through this- it's a total bummer. At your state- I don't think a Shampoo or Brush or supplement will be the answer. I will be happy to provide the info for you but you really need to go to a doc and check your " complete Thyroid panel " including RT3!! follicular activity and complete blood counts. Even Liver and Kidney function. This is all very very important!! If nothing else get yourself one of those wide tooth combs and use that out of the shower. The harsh detergents in the shampoos strip the hair. Most shampoos have corn derivatives and " foam " this foaming action is not good for the hair. We are led to believe that this is desired but it isn't at all. Especially with hair loss issues. Do you blow dry a lot or use any hair styling products? If so, stop. The product I use is called Morocco Method International. I but it wholesale as it is expensive (I don't have any financial interest LOL) http://www.morroccomethod.com/ The best way to use their shampoo and conditioner is to use all 4 shampoos- like choose 1 shampoo every day or every other day and the next shampooing use a different one. Rotate the 4 and use a tiny bit of conditioner. Takes a while to get used to as it has a very different texture than normal shampoo. They also sell natural burshes- I have a small one but not from this company. I bought my mom the travel size brush as a gift. She seems to like it. It off-gassed quite a bit though- so it needs air for sure. They also sell hair elixers (very expensive) The gold and silver ones are good. Email me off-list and I can tell you more about my experience. jodah235@... There are a couple of " legal " biotin's that I have seen but I would strongly suggest not to go supplement crazy and get blood tests. Is there a way for you to do that? Ohh, also which brand CLO are you using? Make sure the A/D ration is 10/1 or else it's not the greatest. Jodi
Guest guest
What is CLO? I've been loosing my hair for the last 3 years but it's gotten really bad lately. I'm sure the flare isn't helping. I need to stop honey but it's such a comfort right now. It's the only fructose I've been indulging on lately. I eat very few fruits. I tried making my own shampoo out of castille soap but it left my hair so oily and dirty feeling I couldn't use it. I blow dry my hair when it's cold out but usually let it dry naturally. I only use hair products when I'm fixing my hair for something special because it has always made my psoriasis (sp?) flare. Thanks for the link and info on the products. I've been going natural with all my products for the last few years so I don't consider buying the shampoo too crazy <wink> and I've been wanting to take biotin for a couple years, but never did even though I have about 1/2 the hair I did 3 years ago. I ordered a biotin from www.ourkidsasd.com. It is acutally listed as SCD legal. It costs $400 for the first visit to the natural doctor here in Baton Rouge. I don't know what all that even covers. There's no telling how much it costs to have all the tests done. With my insurance, I have a $2500 deductible so I'd have to come out of pocken on all those tests and I just can't do it. I live paycheck to paycheck and am just at my wits end on this off and on 2 month flare and my hair falling out. I'm back down to my normal weight today but I'm still very bloated and can't fit in any of my clothes. There's not pain so I can tolerate it thankfully. Thank you so much for all your wisdom and listening to my complaints. I try not to complain too much. I'm so glad I have this place to complain and people can actually sympothize and give sound advice. Thanks EVERYONE!!!! Guest guest
-Remember that hair is made up from amino acids. Protein is formed from amino acids- You might want to try to find a protein source- one thats absorbable. When people diet extremely, are malnourished or have absorption difficulties--they lose their hair-- not getting enough absorbable protein-- off the top off my head some good sources are fish, chicken, eggs, cheese and yogurt Just a thought and good luck
Guest guest
> Hair loss - thyroid, iron stores (must measure serum ferritin), biotin, zinc and essential fatty acid deficiencies I would have to get tested for these. I have to start saving the money to have this done. I'm sure it'll be very expensive. > Hair loss, dandruff, eczema, excessive ear wax production, poor wound healing, excessive thirst (especially in hyperactive children), pre-menstrual symptoms of any sort- essential fatty acid deficiency I've had several eczema flares (on my left eye only) lately, my ears have always producted a lot of wax since having tubes, and I have been so danged thirsty lately. It's like nothing can quench it. I've been having this problem off and on for the last 2 months with it being constant the last 2 weeks. So, pretty much since I started flaring 2 months ago. Luckily, I have very little pre menstrual symptoms. My cycle sneaks up on me most months. 2 cycles ago, I had some PMS symptoms (irritability, bloating, some cramps before I started). I know I need to get my thyroid checked but it's hard talking a PCP into doing it and right now I don't have a PCP or the money UGH!!!!! **** > Have you tried going low fructose for a while to see if you can edge out of the flare And maybe look at the GAPS intro protocol - eating lots of soups/broth/ and adding egg to them for richness for several days in a row. I am stopping honey today. It was my main source of fructose and I've been indulging a lot lately. I hardly eat any fruits. > http://www.gapsdiet.com/INTRODUCTION_DIET.html How do you add the egg in your soup. I think from a prior post, you soft boil it and stir it in????? Thanks Mara!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Misty I really feel for you - and can relate to being sensitive about loosing your hair. That's not easy for women! For me cod liver oil really did the trick. I'm not all back to the way it was before, but a lot of things about both hair and skin changed, when I started taking CLO. I hope you get there too!
