Guest guest
Hi a, I personally was so nauseas when I started the diet that I have %110 adhered since. I have screwed up many times accidentally eating illegals and in the begining it was so hard for to cook that I ordered a lot of food ready made. I tried to do what I could. It was incredibly challenging. Finally I went online and learned the " real " way to do SCD and joined these online support groups. My husband was incredible helping me with food prep and cooking. I was so weak. What about trying some squash like butternut? You can add ghee and sea salt and it is incredibly satiating and delicious. What about an avocado in the next few days? Sometimes these insane craves are due to bad bugs screaming because we aren't feeding them. You'll get through it. I had bouts of insane craves that would send me into a dark room crying my mind out. Sometimes I had these junky nightmares of eating illegals too and I would wake up- so angry at myself as I was so sure it was real. It's hellacious. You'll pull through like many of us have!! I hope people will have more suggestions for you and maybe Marilyn and Kim M can pull something out of their SCD cap. Jodi

Guest guest
Hi a, What day of intro are you on? How about making a bone broth? And cooking for 10+ hours? That is what I had to do when I had to restart the whole diet due to a massive flare. The bone broth and Ghee really helped me feel satiated. Are you eating fish on Intro? Maybe something like broiled Salmon can work for you? Sometimes -some- of us have to kind of tweak intro and tailor it to our own needs. As long as you don't go crazy and intro too many things at once- you can see how things work for you. Personally, I would go with bone broth and Ghee into food. Start there. How is the C Diff testing going? Did you get your results yet? Hang in there.. Totally rooting for you! Jodi

Guest guest
Hi a, Maybe you can list -exactly- what you are eating and the amounts? That way some of us can help you more efficiently! My distended belly took quite a while to subside- I still get it at times (I am getting a colonoscopy and small bowel series in March maybe it will show what's going on? I am also going through C Diff carrier testing too.) Anyway, the bloat and distended belly takes time. And if you have active C Diff or Toxo or any other critter you may need to look into more aggressive treatment! I know- it's a bummer that it isn't more clear cut!! It seems you need some fats in your intro. Have you tried buying knucklebones or Marrow bones and adding that to your Turkey soup? That is what I made my bone broths from. Guest guest
Hi a, I fell asleep in front of the TV last night watching Big Love on my DVR. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I just saw your other post and was wondering what you are putting in your soup/bone broth? I don't know Elaine's stance on Betaine HCL- but I know over at GAPS Dr McBride is very pro Betaine if one has very low stomach acid. The question though is this something that you should be doing on intro? I don't know. I know with GAPS she likes people being supplement free on intro and slowly adding supplements (she is actually not into supplementation at all). I don't want to derail you or misinform you in any way as clearly you feel it is helping you. I would suggest you ask one of the old timers like Sheila, Marilyn or Kim M for their opinions about it so you can make an informed decision. My food is still undigested many times on the way out. Marilyn told me that this can be normal for some as healing takes place. Do you experience symptoms with it too? My poops look a lot better but still contain undigested material but it doesn't cause me issues. Sometimes I get slightly nauseas or tired or have rectal pain but those are very slight and pass after the BM. I am so sorry you are feeling so badly and things aren't more clear cut. I too fall between the cracks of many things and have had to research and ask many questions. Don't despair. Jodi > Today I had water, weak coffee, turkey broth, and turkey meat. The stages did not exist when I started SCD in 2001. They are intended as a guide, not an absolute. If you are adding fats back in, go slowly -- I had to give up all fats for two days before a colonoscopy on 2 January, and was so hungry, I wasn't careful. Since I don't have a gall bladder, there were so stored digestive juices to deal with the fats, and the liver and pancreas had to gear up to producing adequate amounts again. Result was, the fats I ate came through undigested. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Add a bunch of salt too. A butcher would be happy to sell you bones. I got some from Blackwing.com too but beware that the bones are HUGE and not cut. Boy was that an experience! What kind of ACV are you using? We need to make sure that teh ACV we use is filtered and does not contain " The Mother " in it. So in other words we like the clear looking ACV and not the opaque one. Spectrum makes a great organic ACV that is filtered. > In August I was fine with 5 to 6 HCl. I could also tolerate butter, eggs, > cashews, popcorn, kale, and other foods I normally do not eat. Cashews are very starchy.. popcorn is pretty hard on digestion too (obviously illegal) Cashews are a food I go utterly crazy with and lose all sense of proportion. I think they feed the bad bugs in me. More and more I think my issues > are hormonal/adrenal rather than bacterial. At least not > right now., Maybe when my adrenals are stronger. I have hormonal, adrenal, thyroid, Lyme Disease co-infections, C Diff issues. I also have some fungal and parasitic issue too (just found this out) not a real shocker, those are just to name a few don't want to bore everyone on the list with my diseased resume. Anyway, SCD is really helping me. It's just very very slow and a lot of trial and error. I learned from Kim M that it's really important finding a core group of foods and working with that. These core foods turn into our own individualized " intro " for some of us. > Until I get my test results I won't worry so much about the intro and > stages. I will just eat the legal foods that I think I can tolerate > although it is hard to tell right now. I understand. PB stages are a guide. I took as a learning tool to know how to intro foods and the pace. I know seeds and fiber are an issue for me. But second time around broccoli was one of the first veggies I tolerated best. I think you not sticking %100 to the stages makes sense. But I still think you need to find your core group foods and figure whats easiest on your system as possible. You say you need fats so maybe you can prioritize on making ghee, eating some broiled salmon. Making a bone broth with Marrow Bones. That should satiate you. After a bit you can add an avocado. When I intro a new vegetable I steam it, puree it and add a dollop of ghee and sea salt. Delicious! Wait till you eat squash this way! YUMYUMYUM! From my experience even if things aren't working going slowly and not eating too many foods in one day has been key in keeping my belly bloat down. Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, I am getting this done in March I will know more details then. My GI didn't elaborate he just said there is a series of tests to look into me being a C Diff carrier and that could explain my struggle. Guest guest
I have those all the time! I don't know how many dreams I've had where I'll eat a bunch of candy and cookies, and then remember I broke the diet. I even had a dream where I found I could magically make Twix bars appear out of thin air, and then realized it was a useless skill because I couldn't eat them, LOL!
