Guest guest
Cherie, If you just started HC, you likely will have some symptoms until you get to the right dose. I don't recommend going too high too soon. I had different reactions the entire first month. A few days were great then odd things off and on for a month. By the second month I still had a lot of fatigue in the late morning, early afternoon...but the rest of the stuff seemed to stop. Do you also take sea salt? The dizziness and nausea is definitely adrenal related. Before upping your HC, I would try increasing the sea salt and doing 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon at least a couple of times per day. Dizziness and nausea are usually more aldosterone related. Cheri dizzy and nauseous I've been on the cortisol since Friday and this evening I started feeling dizzy and nauseous and over heated. Today I went up to the dose the doctor had originally told me to take 10mg in the morning and 5mg at noon. I took 2.5mg about 45 minutes ago , but I'm still dizzy and a bit naseous. It is a bit better, but not much. I don't know if I should ride this out or take another 2.5mg. I am not on any thyroid medicine yet. I know this is Christmas eve, but I thought I'd take a shot that someone is checking their e-mails.... Cherie .
Guest guest
Cheri S., Hi, Prior to you going on HC or Isocort were you housebound most days? I forget your back story. I do remember you telling me you had depression and that your pets helped you get out ,or maybe it was someone else. To me ,you seem like your mind is very sharp. You are very fast and good at retrieving information. W/O my ADD medication ,as of late ,it is quite diificult for me to keep up with much.. I do have ADD, but with the adrenals gettimg lower I am just out of steam and the med does not add to the situation. I know you work hard on your diet and vitamins/ minerals. How did you know you had the parasites? Today I was reading a site, maybe it was from an article someone here posted , regarding this centter that test for candida and parasites. I have shelled out alot of money , like most in this group. Do you think it would be beneficial for me to get a test to check for candida and parasites? I am concerned of doing a cleanse until I come back from LA. My body gets thrown off by the slightest things now ,and I am doing what I can to rest so I can get their and back in one piece. I know when I was on HC to get weaned off the high dose of Pred. it did nada for me. The only thing that has helped my pain and exhaustion was the Pred. which is no good to take. Sea salt, at this time, I know I should not take ,because two of my meds can elevate my BP , which I never had issues with before. Last Monday ,my BP was 140/ I am not sure but that is high for me. I am taking Mag, Omega 3, Calcium w/ D. I found the other probiotics I have by Country Life in the Refrigerator. I have a couple left and I am taking them. I also ordered B-12 and vitamin C on vitacost . I know my liver is so so due to my meds but if it will cause detox I wil have to wait on that when I get back. I know it is a month away but with the EBV still showing high levels in my body I am not able to recover too quick from any disturbances to my system. a > > Cherie, > If you just started HC, you likely will have some symptoms until you get > to > the right dose. Guest guest
Thanks Cheri! I finally started feeling better. I just got the sea salt today. I kept forgetting to buy it when I went to the store. :-) I'm defineatly going to have to do something with the salt. I tried just putting it in my mouth and letting it dissolve like you suggested and that isn't going to work for me. I tried dissolving it and that isn't going to work either. I also tried putting some on my soup tonight and I couldn't finish it. There are only a few things that I typically salt and then not much. Has anyone tried putting the salt in empty capsules and taking it that way? It that doesn't work maybe I'll eventually get used to the taste. I have a bad gag reflex though. Anytime I try to eat something that tastes " bad " to me, I have a really hard time not throwing up. Guest guest
Cherie, I don't let it dissolve on my tongue. I literally gulp in down immediately after placing on my tongue. If you put it on the right spot, you will barely taste it. Then I follow with water. You might have to practice on what works for you. I had to practice awhile until I found a way that didn't make me sick, lol. you can also try putting it on the palm of your hand and licking it quickly then washing down with water. Glad you are feeling better today. Cheri RE: dizzy and nauseous Thanks Cheri! I finally started feeling better. I just got the sea salt today. Guest guest
a, I stumbled on the parasite thing. I had been having huge digestive problems daily...pain, diarrhea, bloating, constipation for many years. Around 2003 I started eating raw organic pumpkin seeds and got very, very sick every time I did. I returned them at the store, thinking they were spoiled, got new ones, and the same thing happened. I finally googled pumpkin seeds and found out they are a good parasite killer and what I was experiencing was a die off reaction from killing parasites. I then went out and bought some parasite killer kits and wow, what a difference. I did them two in a row and lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks. So, I continue to do them a couple of times a year. People with autoimmune diseases are more susceptible to parasites. Also, with all the toxins in our air and water we become more susceptible. My mind is not working nearly where it used to. I would say I am at about 30%. Some days I am really bad and can not think at all though. I think right now it is thyroid related because I am not on thyroid meds now and my brain really needs them. Getting good fats in my diet has helped though. I was not housebound prior to cortisol, though I did have bouts where I was housebound years ago. I can pretty much do errands now but I can't work full days like I used to and again, I would say I am at about 30% of where I should be with my overall health including brain function. I definitely cannot do things I could do only a few years ago. Honestly, a, don't waste your money on testing for parasites and candida. You have to do a lot of tests, most will not give an accurate result, and it is more money wasted. The Candida test you can do at home using the candida spit test I posted the other day. (you can google for it too). It's free to do at home all you need is a glass, water and your saliva, lol. With the parasites, you can buy a kit for $14-$19 dollars (cheaper than any test) and do a cleanse for 2 weeks. If you have none, it won't hurt you. If you have them, it will kill them and clean out your system. However, I would wait until after the holidays because there is too much food that you will likely want to partake in and on the cleanse you have to eat healthy or it won't work as well. I would bet anything you have them. Quite often I meet strangers at the health food store and can tell by heir eyes and tongue when they have a lot of parasites. When I was at my worst, the whites of my eyes which are normally really, really white got a yellow and gray tinge to them. I had a lot of allergies and not only felt toxic, I looked toxic. Apparently too, with mercury poisoning, a person deals with parasite issues much more than a normal person. The tongue tends to get a white or yellowish color with bad candida and sometimes raised tastebuds and irritation with parasites. Check out www.curezone.com and enter keyword " parasites " and you will get a lot of good info. Sometimes I can see them expelled in my stool but a lot of ones you cannot see with the unaided eye. Depends on what parasites and how bad you have them. Apparently, I had a lot of different ones and had them really bad. A lot of my organ pain went away when I did them so I suspect the parasites had infected my organs. The pancreas and colon I noticed the most improvement in. A gross topic, but I have to say I felt SO much better when I did these and continue too. Now sometimes if I get itchiness in my body I know I need to do one again. Anal itching is a symptoms of parasites too. With sea salt I believe it was who said it can lower BP too...it balances either way. You could try it and see if it helps or hurts since it is a cheap thing to do. Regarding your EBV, I really think once you get a lot of other things in your body more balanced, like thyroid and adrenals, your body will be stronger to fight it off. I used to get strep all the time and had chronic fatigue for years... before I understood the adrenal and thyroid connection. Viruses can be in our bodies dormant for our entire lives, but when things are unbalanced they flourish. So, I am not sure the EBV is the main thing causing your issues...it may be that is an additional thing that causes more issues but there are many ways to attack a problem. I have mouth herpes issues (the cold sore kind) that have really flared up since 2005 when it suddenly came on and this past year 2007 I had 5 breakouts when the year before I only had 2. What is interesting though, this Dec. when I got my normal flare-up, it went away really quick, was not painful and I didn't even use meds. The last time in September it was bad, and I had a flare-up in August too. The only difference was this time I was on cortisol. So, while the virus is always in my body, getting that added cortisol sure made a difference and my lip was so much better. When do you do your saliva test? Is it the 31st? That is only a week away so something to look forward too. Cheri Re: dizzy and nauseous Cheri S., Hi, I am taking Mag, Omega 3, Calcium w/ D. Guest guest
Cherie, Seriously, do look at the dosing schedule: At the group homepage Files> How to Treat Low Cortisol> Ramp up HC or Isocort Schedule I forget what dose you started at, but it really is best to ramp up gradually. But if you want to stay at the dose you are taking now, just break it up more during the day. The ramp up schedule will show you how to do that, to keep a good cortisol rhythym. sol Cherie wrote: > I need to get a watch with a timer for this and taking temps. Guest guest
Sea salts can also be ordered online: http://www.saltworks.us/shop/Products.asp and other online retailers My local Kroger grocery store sells Redmond Real Salt and LaBaleine. I loved the taste of Real Salt, but it didn't love me. If I ever get rid of my iodine problem I may be able to use the Real Salt, and try the Celtic, too. But so far the best I can do is the LaBaleine. I also seem to remember someone saying some Walmarts carry some good sea salts. Is that where you looked? sol Cherie wrote: > Well, that may be the problem. :-) Basically I have a Wal-mart and a > Foodworld to choose from close to the house.
