Hi Tom,

I was diagnois by the Doctors as having IBS when everything else

they wanted to test for was ruled out by sufficient test, crohns,

UC, gluten intolerence, etc. I did try HVV diet purchasing numerous

items through her and continued to get much worse. I have also did

the O Positve diet (my blood type) and spent an enormous amount of

money on supplements and drugs the Doctors wanted me to try. Getting

desperate that nothing was working, I kept researching and happened

upon BTVC. I have been on the diet since September, 2006. I have

made a tremendous amount of progress. In 2006 I was at the point

where I couldn't work some days (I was only part time) and my boss

would see how bad it was for me and allow me to go home. I couldn't

do social events with the stress adding to my problems. Now days I

go out and enjoy myself socializing and continue to get better. I

don't feel I am at the point where I could add illegals back in just

yet, but I am looking forward to the day I don't have to be quite so

strict and still be able to have good health.

Maybe I have been diagnois wrong with the IBS. I myself feel I have

candida yeast to deal with, but My Doctor won't even consider that

idea.

So, I continue with " SCD diet " because it works for me!!!!!

Hi Tom,

before I finally found SCD, I tried 's approach. It might

work for some people. However, it made my IBS symptoms much

worse. With SCD, I'm doing great. No more D.

Greetings all,

In doing research on IBS, I've noticed some startling

contradictory plans between SCD and a high soluble fiber diet like the

one

described by Van Vorous, at helpforibs.com and in her book, IBS:

the

First Year. HVV appears to endorse lots of things BTVC makes

illegal (starches,

In particular) and argue against some staple of BTVC, such as fat, red

meat,

dairy, etc. I was surprised, and a bit dismayed, there could be

that much

disagreement. Is IBS different enough from UC or CD that it would warrant

such a different approach?

In the BTVC foreward, Dr Hoffman seems to reject such a difference, but

I'm curious if anyone

else has tried the HVV diet?

thanks!

Not that specific diet, but yes, I did high fiber. It appeared to help --

I thought I did better with whole wheat pasta and brown rice. Then things

went downhill again in a hurry.

SCD works, and works well for IBS.
