Guest guest Posted January 16, 2009 Report Share Posted January 16, 2009 I was wondering if this bread agrees with most people on the list even tho it's made out of ground almonds? ALSO, I'll go ahead and give a little info on myself since I jumped in with questions before introducing myself. Please forgive me. I'm Tonya. Married to and we have three daughters. Two are married and still have one at home. This past Dec. 7, I found myself in the ER with Diverticulitis and a microabscess. The pain was awful. I was put on Cipro/Flagyl for 2 weeks. I guess by a miracle, I never took over 2 pain pills after I left the ER but my tummy was in an uproar for 2 or 3 weeks after. I still don't have any pain. I did eat a soft, bland diet but I'm able to eat lots more now. My diet pretty much consists of baked or raw apples, once in while an orange, chicken, turkey, fish, canned carrots, green beans, squash. I did eat some store bought yogurt in the beginning but haven't had any in a while. I admit that I also drank a little kefir (which made my tummy feel wonderful) also. I went back to the DR. on Jan. 6th and I still had some soreness in my lower left region. Soooo, he put me on Levaquin for 10 days which I finished this morning. (Thank God) I do hope that's all the antibiotics I have to take as I'm not a medicine person. I'm suppose to have a CT I guess in a week to see if all the infection is gone. I do hope so!!! I've not eaten loads of food since leaving the ER so I don't actually have all my strentgh back but I'm doing good. I just ordered me a dehydrator so I won't be making the yogurt till next week. Does anyone suggest I eat store bought? Or just wait till I can make my own? ALSO, if there is anyone on here that has suffered with the same , please write to me. At the time I started SCD, there were no Pecan Bread stages... it was all common sense. I didn't use nut breads for some months on the diet because I was too darned sick when I started to be able to make them. That said, when I did start, the Lois Lang bread, made with well-dripped yogurt (because I couldn't find dry curd cottage cheese) became something I really enjoyed. I have my own variation of the recipe which I usually make as mini-muffins so I don't eat too much at one time! These days, though, I mostly do my own pecan souffle bread. This has the advantage of being eggs and just 4 tablespoons of nut flour in six or so large slices of bread. (It's more like a roll up for sandwiches and things.) You'd be much better off just waiting until you can make SCD yogurt. Store bought yogurt is full of lactose and not SCD legal.Since almond flour is difficult for some to tolerate at first, I'd suggest starting out slowly with it and see how you do. If you find that you don't tolerate it well, there is a bread recipe at,http://uclbs.org/recipes/bmc/soufflebread.phpthat doesn't call for almond flour. I prefer this bread for sandwiches over any almond flour bread I've tried anyway. As I'm thinking about the taste of that bread, I'm curious what they would be like as mini muffins. So I'm guessing you don't use them for sandwiches.
