Guest guest
Hi AP users. I have a question about using Generic version of Minocin called Minocycline. Some articles emphasized the use of brand over generic drug. The content of active ingredient in generic drug can be off as much as 20% from that of brand name drug. It may cause considerable difference in their effectiveness for AP therapy. This is what the article said. However the price difference between brand and generic is as much as $200 for 90 piles. Is it really worth the price? Are all of you using brand name drug? Did anyone use generic version of this antibiotics and get a desired result? Thanks, Jintae
Guest guest
> Hi AP users. > Hi Jintae, I have used both....For me, there was a drastic difference when using the generic....I was on the brand, and the pharmacy gave me the generic by error...It took a while to straighten out the error with insurance red tape, before they would release another RX of the brand...In those three weeks, I went down hill. The generic has many fillers, and if you are sensitive to any of the them the results won't be there. The brand, Minocin has one filler....Also, the pellet form of the brand is sustained release which also allows for it to be in the system longer than the powdered generic. I must say, there have been many that do very well on the generic. I am in remission with Lupus all through the brand Minocin.... If I were you, I would give the generic a few months try.....If you see positive results regardless of how small they might be, I would stay and see how it develops....As I said, there have been many with positive results on the generic. It might help to tell us which generic you are using...Perhaps that would help others using the same, to let you know what results they are finding. Please remember, we are only patients....not docs, and only relating what we are experiencing.... Barb have a question about using Generic version of Minocin called Minocycline. Guest guest
Hi! Actually, I am using the generic Minocin. It is a maroon colored capsule. I have been taking it for maybe a year. Then in May I switched to Doxy to keep my skin from getting too dark. After 2 months, I realized that I was getting worse and worse. So I switched back to Minocin. It has been a long road to get back to where I was, but I know it is working. I wake up sometimes to find myself sleeping on my side. I haven't been able to do that for years. I could only sleep on my back. Maybe the brand name would work better, but I know that the generic does indeed work. Love to all, Mel rheumatic AP: Minocin vs Minocycline ( Brand vs Generic) Hi AP users. I have a question about using Generic version of Minocin called Minocycline. Guest guest
Jintae and Group, There has been anecdotal evidence over the years that generic minocycline does not work as well as brand name Minocin, but there is has been little data pointing to specific brands of generic mino. I have started a web page to summarize inputs from this group, but it has little data in it: www.tmgp.com/generic-mino.htm I would be grateful for any feedback related to specific brands of generic mino. Sincerely, Harald At 02:17 PM 11/2/2004 -0700, you wrote: >Hi AP users. > >I have a question about using Generic version of Minocin called >Minocycline.
