Guest guest
I don't know how ANYONE could POSSIBLY be this IGNORANT AND COLD- HEARTED!! I was called into the HR office today (at Target, where I am a cashier), to talk to my supervisor's boss and the head of HR. I can understand wanting to make sure that I truly have a disability and am not just trying to be a freeloader, but this is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY RIDICULOUS!!!!! They are contacting the HR headquarters to see if letting me sit on a friggin stool while I cashier is a reasonable accommadation and whether or not the fact that I claim that I have to sit on the stool in order to cashier is a violation of my " core roles " . I have a doctor's note saying that I have to sit on the stool, if I am going to work! For crying out loud! I even have a doctor's note saying that I have to wear a wrist brace on each wrist!! They told me that depending on what HR headquarters says, I may not be allowed to continue using the stool!! Can they do that? I thought " reasonable accommadation " meant that the individual needed to have a disability, the accommadation was necessary for the individual to do the job, and that the accommadation does not cause " undue hardship " for the business. How can letting me sit on a stool that they already have for this purpose (that they had before I ever started working there... it was just collecting dust in the storage room...), cause " undue hardship " ? Am I misunderstanding these terms? I just don't understand. I mean I have better than expected credit card applications and better than expected cash register speed scores. What did I do to deserve THIS? If they say that I can't use the stool anymore, then is there anything I can do? If they don't let me use that stool, then I won't be able to cashier anymore!! I absolutely CANNOT stand and lift and do all that cr*p for 4-9 hours a day! And if they take away the stool, can they say that I'm not allowed to wear the wrist braces? And/or, can they make me go back to working 38.5-40 hours a week? Right now, per my doctor, I'm working 20-30 hours a week. Can they really do THIS? Is this LEGAL? I guess they didn't really mean it in orientation, when they said that they want to have DIVERSITY in their team members at EVERY store. They ACTUALLY defined diversity to include people of different age groups, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, race, disability status, etc. They ACTUALLY SAID DISABILITY STATUS!!! I came so close to crying! And they did it halfway through my shift. I just can't believe that they would actually do this!!! Has anyone ever been through this? Does anyone or has anyone worked at Target (I think someone said that they had worked at Target...)? CAN THEY SERIOUSLY DO THIS????? AND IF THEY DO, DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE????? Hugs PS: My kingdom for a week without drama!!
