> I think I need to read some more European history! I did not

realize that Finland was such a young country! And I don't remember

learning that from the young exchange student who spent part of a

summer with my father's cousin and they brought her to visit us.

Somewhere among my treasures from my childhood, I still have the

drawing she did for me using crayons!

I am glad I came down to check to see what was happening with

everyone one! Otherwise, I might have forgotten to take my nightly

meds!! I sleep off and on all day. Spoke to both of my surviving

aunts. The youngest one who lived next door to my Aunt was

still very angry with her brother-in-law. I was a bit surprised by

that. But he had not been giving my aunt the pain meds as the doctor

had ordered him to do! And I guess the doctor must have let him have

over that. Had she regained in strength, she would not have been

sent home to be with him. My call to elder abuse had finally been

effective --- plus the doctor overhearing him say that he hadn't

given her the pain meds. I still don't understand why someone at the

hospital had not caught on to what was happening --- she could be in

there for 2 days, they would get her back to feeling good (or as good

as she could in that battle with the cancer) and then be right back

in there in a very short time!

Well, it is getting cooler here and the only other thing I want to do

is check the newspaper and put another message in the guest book for

my aunt. I didn't see it when I read the obit, but they neglected to

include my cousin and her husband, both of her sons are listed but

not she and her husband!

Hi ,

Thank you for sharing your lovely traditions. It sounds like a very busy, but

peaceful day, except for the rain and wind and cold. I hope you warmed up

quickly.

The thought of the ginger breads made my mouth water - want to send a few my

way? And I'm glad you enjoyed your glogg, although I don't know what it is.

I'm sure it tastes a lot better than it sounds.

I don't think I could have taken my bike out on such a cold, rainy, windy day.

More power to you. You even did it twice. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.

I hope you stay warm and rested, and that your hands, arms and eyes get

better. Maybe your cat won't get hungry until a little later.

Anyway, I'm glad you told us about your holiday traditions and your nice day.

It's a treat to read about someone having a nice day and you really took

advantage of the day, which is great. I probably would have spent the whole day

sipping glogg, eating ginger breads, cuddled up under the fleece blanket on such

a day. Good for you.

Hi everyone

I thought I'd write and tell you about my day today.

Finland celebrates it 90th birthday today, so I have

been celebrating a little too.

Mum is in Sweden, so I am alone until Sunday. Alone

with a crazy cat who woke me up 6 am. But I would

still have woken up by then, because it was raining a

lot and when it rains it sounds like someone is

throwing small stones on my window. I hate that. I

tried to listen to some Christmas songs around 5 am,

but gave up when my cat went nuts and wanted food.

At 7 am I started baking ginger breads. I bought an

already made dough that I had in the freezer. Mum will

later make a dough herself and that will give more

than 100 ginger breads. Now I made 52, between 7 and 8

am. It's common that Finns bake ginger breads before

Christmas. And many bake them on Independence Day when

most have a day off from work. Mum only wants to bake

them once, in a few weeks I guess, so I thought I'd

bake some myself when she is gone for the weekend.

I was sleeping between 9.20 and 10.05 am. The fibro

monster was in a cheery mood, because I haven't really

felt any symptoms, apart from being tired and

shivering cold. At the moment I'm feeling a bit of

pain in my arms and hands, but not much. The eyes are

irritating a bit too.

I took my bicycle to a Christmas fair and they had a

lot of stuff to look at. I ate a cake there which

tasted really good. All day has been rainy and the

wind has been strong. I went home, rested a little

(reading etc). I also had to take a long warm shower

because I have been freezing all day. Then I ate

dinner.

At 5 pm I was on the market square, as always on Dec

6th. They had two men choirs singing and some speeches

where made. It was raining and the wind was strong. I

was very wet when I got home. So I made a cup of

glogg, ate some ginger breads while I had a fleece

blanket wrapped around me and at 7 pm the dance from

the president's castle (it's not really a castle, but

it's called that anyway) begun. The president invites

some guests every year and in the beginning they all

come in to the big room and shake hands with the

president and her husband. So it's interesting to see

what the women are wearing. The men are usually in

tuxedos and the women have beautiful dresses or very

odd and ugly dresses. This year she had invited 1934

guests, but not everyone came. May be a hundred or so

couldn't come.

They still show from the president's castle, but I've

already seen what I wanted. And that was seeing the

Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen in a tuxedo

and his gorgeous wife. Later they interviewed Kimi. So

after that I turned the TV off.

As the tradition is I have also been burning two

candles. Half of the candle is blue and the other half

is white (the two colours in Finland's flag).

I'll go to bed soon. Just have to do a few more

things. I am so tired. I hope it's not going to rain

this night. But the good thing is that I am having a

free day tomorrow, even if it is Friday. Many people

have taken vacation on Dec 7th because it's a Friday,

so they want a very long weekend. Mum also took

vacation tomorrow so she can stay longer in Sweden.

The translation bureau is closed tomorrow, so I don't

have to go there. I suppose my cat will wake me up

early tomorrow, but I can always go back to sleep when

I've given him food.

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with

fibro (only a little). But I still wanted to write

about it. We all need some nice days every now and

then. That makes us in a good mood for a change.
