Guest guest Posted December 31, 2004 Report Share Posted December 31, 2004 Hi folks Carol here from UK. Haven't posted for ages and ages, because I am doing brilliantly and haven't had time!! Been on Minocin for 2 1/2 years now and doing really well. Infact back to climbing mountains in Scotland. Did a Munro back in November.(Munro's are mountains in Scotland above 3000ft) I have a query for anyone who can answer. We are going to India at the end of the month and I need to take anti-malarial cover. I have suggested to my GP that Doxy would be a good choice, as I didn't think it would interfere with my Minocin. I didn't want to take anything that meant I would have to stop taking my magic medicine. I take 200mg Minocin M/W/F and it has been suggested I take 100mg Doxy daily for the anti-malarial cover. Is anyone else taking both? Can I take them at the same time? Has anyone had any adverse side effects from this? All advice gratefully recieved. Guest guest Posted December 31, 2004 Report Share Posted December 31, 2004 Carol, Dr. Brown sometimes varied the protocol for certain patients having them take Minocin in the morning and doxycycline at night so that should not be a problem. On the days you take your Minocin, you might want to cut back to one capsules instead of two. Guest guest Posted January 1, 2005 Report Share Posted January 1, 2005 Carol, I'm taking Minocin and Doxycycline 100mg each every other day. I take Mino in the morning and Doxy at night. Check with your doctor. Taking Doxycycline for anti-malarial cover might mean taking less Minocin. You wouldn't want to herx on your trip because you increased your dosage too much.
