Guest guest
I have a question about combining other DMARDs with the AP. I have psoriatic arthritis and have been taking Minocin (100mg daily) for a 2 and a half months. About a month ago I had to start taking prednisone too because of a very bad flare (maybe a herx reaction?). I took 20 mg of prednisone for 5 days, then 15 mg for three days, etc until I tapered down to my current dose: for the last 30 days I have been averaging between 2 and 3.75 mg, 3 days on 2 or 3 days off, keeping the flare at a somewhat manageable level. The prednisone is really effective! But I'm now starting to get concerned about staying on it for a longer time (worried about long term side effects such as osteoporosis, diabetes, " moonface " , weight gain) and am thinking about trying MTX instead. Does anyone have any views about which concurrent treatment would be better/safer: Minocin and prednisone or Minocin and MTX? Is prednisone at my low/intermittent dose likely to cause side effects? (I think I've already gained a few pounds as a result). Thanks, Sharon
