Ablation Recovery

I'm new to the group and have been searching through the archives, but

thought I'd ask the question anyway. For folks that have tried

ablation how did the recovery period go?

The reason I ask is that I had an ablation on April 6th at the Mayo

Clinic. I was on Toprol and Coumadin after the procedure and did great

for the first week or so. I then went back into AFIB with my heart

racing above 150 bpm and associated dizziness. Boosting the Toprol

from 50MG 1x/day to 2x/day seemed to do the trick and I was back in

NSR the following day. Unfortunately, after another week my heart was

racing again and I was back to being dizzy. This time, last Friday

5/6, I was told that I was in aflutter. My cardiologist but me on

Rymthmol SR 325MG 2x/day. I feel better and go back this Tuesday for

another ECG to see if the flutter is over.

I've been told that this is pretty common. Have the folks that have

been ablated had the same sort of experience? Have you had the same

sort of treatment repsonses? If so, how did things ultimately work out

for you?

I should mention that prior to the ablation I was in chronic afib, but

generally asymptomatic. Two caroioversions (3 tries during the 1st one

and 2 tries during the second) failed to generate even one normal

rhythm cycle. I pursued the ablation because I wanted to " get the

problem fixed " and to get off the meds. I also had a prior ablation

done for an SVT five years prior.

Any input as to other's experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg
