Guest guest
can you use ebay? I am not doing the program via meetings, I bought the starting books off ebay, and mostly lurking on this email group & lots of good websites ( most found via this group). anyway, it's an option, especially if you have a support system, which it sounds like you do... also try to find other diet buddies, through work or church or where ever.. I'm sure you can do it, you sound very very modivated and ready for a change in your life. Guest guest
Aliya, do you know someone in the states that could purchase the at-home kit for you, then send it to you? Last time I checked, it was around $100. With the at-home kit, you get everything: the slider, the books, etc. I think that's what I would try to do if I were you. I was able to learn enough online to do WW for 2 weeks before I started. The formula for finding points is: 1 point = (calories/50) + (fat grams/12) - (fiber grams/5) You must cap the fiber grams at 4. You need to get 2 milks a day, 5 fruits and veggies. You can look at healthdiscovery.net and dottie's website to find list of free veggies. Protein and carbs are determined by your choice of plan. You can choose a higher carb plan, or higher protein. I'm not sure of the exact numbers without looking. (I try to eat a protein with each meal, so I don't really follow that aspect, shame on me) Personally, I read and re-read all my materials monthly. Ebay is expensive, but it is a good alternative as someone suggested. Just know you won't be getting everything that you would at meetings. Last time I looked, they don't include everything in the auctions. Best wishes, Lyn Newbie! Need help/advice! Hi! My name is Aliya, I am 32 years old and am expatriate, originally from California, living in Malaysia. Both my husband and I are embarking on a journey together to lose weight. For me it's a bit more serious. I am severely overwieght and want to lose this weight (it is effecting my health) so that I may live a longer and healthier life. (None of the women on my mother's side of the family live past 43, almost all have been overwieght and due to heart disease-this is a scary reality for me). After much research and seeing and hearing people's experiences we have decided that Weight Watchers was for us. I am not very good at asking for help but at the moment I have one huge hurdle in my way and I am willing to do anything I can to overcome it. The hurdle: In Malaysia there is no Weight Watchers and when I go to the WW website they don't have offer the online services to Malaysia. SO now here's the problem, I have none of the WW material to get me started and don't even know where to begin. I have decided the only thing I can do is compile more research to get the general idea of WW. I have managed to gather what points both my hubby and I need and how to calculate the daily exercise points. I have gathered a gazillion WW point recipes and so on but I noticed after researching that WW has week-by-week books?? I am not sure if I have all the rules down of WW or if I have enough information to start this and do it the right way? I am very anxious and eager to start this journey but at the moment I am stuck. Any advice or help from anyone would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Aliya
Guest guest
Aliya, Welcome and congratulations on choosing this wonderful weight-loss program. You do have a few challenges, considering the lack of resources available to you there in Malaysia, but with the help of this group and other resources online I believe you can do this! Be sure to check out the Files and Links sections of the SWW home page, and also look through the archived messages for tons of helpful information. Some people who are unable to attend meetings find it helpful to post their weekly weight here, as if we were their online meeting! I think everyone on this group will encourage you to seriously journal.... my WW leader says " If you bite it, WRITE it! " That includes tiny little tastes when you're cooking, and that solitary saltine cracker you munch on, etc. I am thrilled with this new eating lifestyle and hope that you learn to love it too! Guest guest
BUT - the e-mail was too big for the yahoo address. If you still want all the ww materials, you can e-mail me at jennciw@... with an e-mail address that is ISP based instead of internet based and it should go through on that one.
