Guest guest
Hi Tabby, I just want to agree with Pierre and Amy, and I forget who else responded to you. Any chest pain definitely needs to be checked out. Please let us know what you find out ok? Guest guest
If you are noticing it I would put a call into your doctor. Chest pain isn't anything to mess around with and should be checked out just in case. What meds are you on? At the higher doses of prednisone I was having a similar feeling that was attributed to the high pred dose. Amy G. Angina Has anybody else experienced chest pain and pressure, especially upon waking up in the morning? Im at about 55% kidney function and just started feeling this the past week. Guest guest
YES. I had at times when my blood pressure was really high - and I don't mean just 150/105, but more like 200/120. But there's absolutely no telling what chest pain or pressure is until you get it professionally evaluated. If you haven't done this already, next time you have it, I would strongly suggest presenting yourself at the nearest Emergency department. There's nothing inherent about kidney disease that causes chest pain or pressure. However, there is the issue of high blood pressure which is common, and eventually, it can cause a thickening and/or enlarging of the left ventricle of the heart, and that is definitely a risk factor for a heart attack. Prolonged chronic renal insufficiency also increases the risk of developing cardiovascular problems, so, get it checked, preferably while you are having the chest pain or pressure. Another aspect of chronic renal insufficiency that can sometimes happen is elevated potassium. This usually would not be expected to happen if you have 50% kidney function left, but if it did, it could sometimes cause chest pain. There are other less dangerous things that can cause this kind of symptom, including very common digestive problems (like gastro-esophageal reflux), but, there's NO way to diagnose yourself. Even a cardiologist would have to be tested if he or she had symptoms like this, because you just can't tell. By the way, if you do go to an ER, to them, chest pain or chest pressure is basically the same thing. They don't really care if it's actual pain or pressure, in other words. Either way, it's a symptom that should get you into the ER right away for an electrocardiogram. Of course, once you have been evaluated and you know what's causing it, it may not necessarily be an emergency every time you get it - but let a doctor tell you that. Many of the blood pressure meds may affect digestion and cause symptoms of gastro-esophageal reflux. Guest guest
I had that type of angina before I had my heart bypass surgery. I still get that type of angina during dialysis. Have you been to a heart doctor? -Ray tabby30002001 wrote: Has anybody else experienced chest pain and pressure, especially upon waking up in the morning?
