Guest guest
I do use Smuckers Peanut butter occasionally these days, after 5 years on SCD, but I usually make my own peanut butter. I went through a difficult time 3 years ago (after 2 years on SCD) when I started reacting to the Smuckers Peanut Butter. I generally only have one spoonful a day, usually mixed in my applesauce, so I could easily connect the peanut butter to my symptom flare. This problem stopped when I switched to making my own peanut butter. I never asked the company what was used in their peanut butter. I've assumed it's most likely sugar, as now when I have a spoonful of the Smuckers, it tastes much sweeter than my homemade stuff. Still, I gave the Smuckers a try a year ago, in an emergency and found my body didn't react as badly as before. I keep a bottle on hand just in case, since it helps when I need a protein rush quickly and don't have any peanut butter made or the time or energy to make a batch at that moment. Peanut butter is easy to make. Just like making any other nut butter. Kim M. >>>>>>>>>> Terry, I remember something from a couple years ago. I'm hoping Kim M will see this thread. You can taste that it is sweeter then just ground up peanuts.I think the peanuts butter was not 100%. I also noticed that if it's just peanuts like the ingredients list, then why is the low fat version 2 grams of sugar? Anyway peanut butter is very easy to grind, I just putpeanuts into the food processor and a couple minutes later it's peanut butter.
