  • 1 year later...

I quickly read your post about being hungry. this is normal on clears.

I think you might try the broth from chicken noodle soup.

I had it about three or four times a day.

I did alot of popsicles and jello...

I also did crystal light.

I would do some decaf tea like others have suggested too.

It gets better really!

Once you get advanced it will be better.

BUT THink about you poor little pouch that needs to not have anything bump up

against it so it can heal...

The poor little thing has been through alot not to mention the intestine that

has been attached to it...

It is thinking what the ##** am I in for now! LOL

I am 5 months out and you will be just find try to find some thing easy to keep

your mind busy..

Good luck and hang in there it gets better.

No Barb - nothing usually trickier the first time; like you say, it's the unknown that's got you right now.

Normal...hmmmm, what "is" normal?

I finished chemo in October 2004 and actually, I will say normal started at almost completely one year from diagnosis. Maybe it's the fact that you have a little mental celebration at one year, you've reached a milestone and feel you can move on, or it's the physical strength you've gained...I'm not sure.

Just know it does get better...tomorrow, I'm going to my first job interview in over 1 1/2 years!! I'm frightened and excited at the same time. With our oldest in college, and the other two 16 and 14 respectively, I would really like to help with the financial around here. Tony has great benefits, so that isn't the issue thank goodness.

This is at a law firm about 35 miles away. The salary is excellent, and after my Herceptin treatment at the oncologist's office, I'm off to the interview (hopefully, they'll think I'm perfect.) LOL

I'm having a bit of self-doubt, not having worked since all this began, but I'm sure it will subside (!!) by the time I sit with the senior partner.

Remember, the most frightening thing I think is when you're told you have cancer...and think of how much you WILL know when this is all behind you! You're doing great and I'm here any time should you need it.

Best,

Barb, That sounds so horrible! And you have had this for a year? Have you been to the radiologist as this is serious. I worry that it sounds like it is eating the flesh. I don't think aloe vera gel would help in this instant. I hate reading posts like this as it is worrisome to me that this can happen. Please see another radiologist or MD. Don't wait anymore! Barb ~

Please don't worry so much about Thursday; if anything, you should welcome the fact that the day has almost arrived...your healing fluids toward "piece of mind." I know you can do it, Barb, and I'm counting on you to walk in there not afraid, but assured that this is your ticket to a long, healthy life full of happiness and love.

Now you need to maintain a positive outlook, as you've had in the past.

Come on, girlfriend!!! Where's that strong, capable woman I know???

XOXO

Thanks, . That's what I'm trying to do. I keep my bad days to a minimum, allow myself some pity parties and move on. So far, it works for me... not might always be working for dh as he's the one who gets to see the pity party, but, what the hay... gives him something to do too. <S>

Had my operation on Memorial Day 2002 and lost my mom in Sept 2002 and it was sudden...she was a healthy woman and lived a long life to 83 yrs ...she was lucky she was not sick much in her life just the usual colds...She was trying to help me deal with my cancer and I was working at the time...Then I had to go on by myself because I am single and was living alone then...then found my boyfriend that same year...and he came to live with me Dec. 2002...Life does go on but it is hard at time... Betsy (NC) Note: forwarded message attached.

Barb,

My mother suffered from alzheimer's as well. Rest assured your Mom

always knows you on some level. On the last day of my mother's life

she called my name and choose me to guide her to the next life. Your

Mom knows you! My Mom knew me, wanted something from me and I gave it

to her.

Ruth

> Oh, Ruth, so sorry about your Mom. I think its hard to go through bc

without them. I wish my mom could be there for me but Alzheimer's

keeps her in the past. I'm just glad at times she knows who I am.

Dear Barb,

It didn't affect my stomach like A/C did, although wasn't horrible with all the meds.

Taxol affected my joints/bones, but I didn't have any lasting effects like some women, so I count my blessings. You will get through it - hang in there, girlfriend!

Hi.......just wondering, does anyone else have lingering bone/joint pain from Taxol? I finished in October 2005, am still taking Herceptin. The pain is not as bad as when I was on Taxol, but I have a great deal of lower leg pain. My scans are all clear, Thank God. I went to see a Rueumatologist and he thinks I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, however I am hoping it's just lingering inflammation. Any thoughts? Thanks, ssist@... wrote: Dear Barb, It didn't affect my stomach like A/C did, although wasn't horrible with all the meds.
