Guest guest
Thanks , I'm actually cramping in a bad way this morning and my wife keeps screaming (in a good way), take your pills!!!, so i guess going cold turkey isn't a good idea. I know the book says that you shouldn't just drop your medication, but i really want to get off it, so i think i'll have to be patient. I don't know what prednisolone does, but i'm sensing it ain't the best for me either. I'll get back on my meds now, and reduce them gradually. By the way, i didn't introduce myself, like i say i'm new here ... Fitz Australia Diagnosed with Crohns, April 2008 SCD - 3 weeks ... Guest guest
Welcome , You are in the midst of some big hearts. With names like Mara, Gay B, Sylvia and Misty. They give so much I am already forever indebted. All I can think of is to pass it forward and help when I can. I too am new (Day 10) and I have a GI that must be on the payroll of Remicade. He is pushing hard. But be warned and careful. The Pred is a steroid and can not be stopped at will. Instead, consider my plan. Follow this diet fanatically and look forward to the day your doctor has to remove you from the meds because you're symptom free. Kinda smile as you walk away. You need to do it supervised. Maybe the doctors will someday move into supporting the diet as an option for some instead of being so negative. I have regular D. It is difficult to determine that something added was good or bad. I am now so basic that I basically eat only Chicken, pork, some apple or grape diluted, small yogurt till I'm sure. Lots of water and homemade electrolyte drink. Yesterday I had a scrambled egg and my stomach growled and tumbled so I will hold off a while longer on that. The best, CD 10/08 SCD 10 days Lialda, Entocort EC, Previsid
Guest guest
hey ,took me a while to figure out the legal alcohols..but to be honest I never drank vodka, and I figure wine is kinda good for you in moderation anyway.. I didn;t drink for over a year..thought my system would do better, nothin to back that thought up though..haha...so now I have a very very small glass with a meal in the evening...as for the meds.. well I kinda got off them as quick as I could.. I know Elaine says to use the drugs with the diet..but I hated them and even one doctor told me he was not sure the anti inflammatory I was on actually did any good.... nice huh? and when I the symptoms were returning as I got to a small dose of predisonole they wanted to put me on a stronger drug, they warned me that one of the side effects could be cancer, so funnily enough I decided not to take that one...haha, I decided to put up with some pain for a while and get off everything... and it worked for me... not always easy and I am sure some would not agree with what I did...but I trusted my instinct on it...a nighbour of mine who had done what the doctors asked for years has collitis, crohns, pancreatatis and walks around like a zombie..poor guy... and my cousin who has been on many different drugs for crohns now has brittle bones.... so I figured I could not be worse off taking a different approach...I think with some effort and a lot of will power the diet will work for you...I realise some have it worse than others and its all personal choice in the end.. different lifestyles etc... follow the diet and stay as chilled out as you can... don't let the crohns become who you are.. it';s just something you have for a while and don;t become scared of food...haha..easily done with this kinda thing... funny how the mind works...take careIreland(now living in Italy)Crohns 19monthsSCD 15 months
