Guest guest
so weird you bring this up - I call them " pebbles " and have had them since high school -not nearly as much now - but I don't think that's scd related I think it's moister air - saline spray, garling etc - I don't think about them and they're rarely there - my daughter just had 2 yesterday and 1 this a.m. and we've had the heat up the last few nighhts due to sub-zero temps - we usually shut it off at night - so I think that's what it's from eileen 1 year scd > > I've had problems with tonsil stones for somewhere between 3 - 5 > years. Guest guest
so odd. I had my tonsils out when I was 20 due to chronic tonsilitis. Before that i had almost daily "tonsil chunks" or "tonsil peanuts" as my sister and I call them. They weren't painful. My sisster is almost 40 and still gets them! They are gross but I think pretty harmless. Talk to an ENT if you are really concerned.... Guest guest
I was told years ago by an ER doc the best thing you can do for inflammation in the throat is to gargle with salt water, as warm and as salty as you can stand it. Maybe that can also help your situation. Good luck. Take care, Miss > > I've had problems with tonsil stones for somewhere between 3 - 5 > years. Guest guest
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonsillolith I get these. I didn't know what they were until you brought up the topic. I've always dug them out with my tongue and absolutely hate the things. If I realize one is back there, I get obsessed with getting it out. Gosh those things are foul when they come out! Someone mentioned gargling with salt water. The info listed in the above link says that gargling with warm salt water may help. I think I may be getting them due to food allergies and sensitivites. I have this mild, but ongoing post-nasal drip. I don't even notice it most of the time, but it's there. I think that the PNdrip may be due to food sensitivies in my case. I notice it gets worse when I eat something like cheese. Shonda
Guest guest
Thanks! I'll give the salt water gargle a try. My throat never hurts, it's just the thought of those stones hiding in there that gets to me. I was just hoping that a healthy diet might help the problem. Guest guest
I want to emphasize that I have never heard of this before and know nothing about this; I am just speculating here. I went to the link and saw that these stones contain calcium. I am on the Vit K list because it has helped my son immensely; he, like all the kids there, has a calcium-processing problem and calcium is deposited all kinds of wrong places in the body. We use Vit K to get the calcium where it is supposed to go. I wonder if you might want to ask on the K list if she thinks Vit K would help with this problem. If you do, just be patient. is currently taking 3 college courses and does not reply promptly. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/VitaminK/ , mom to
Guest guest
Interesting point. I know i had a calcium deficiency back when I remember getting them more often. I haven't had much of one in a while, just smaller stuff. I know when you have calcium deficiencies, your calcium processing gets all off whack and you can actually create deposits. Hmmmm.
