So what decaf coffee is okay? I'm confused. Anyone have some brand names? Is Starbuck's okay? Thanks.

I'm new to this list. I gave up on the celiac site (I have celiac) They sensor people like me who don't get well on a gluten free diet. I don't understand the politics of it all, but I gather there is a major disapproval of the SCDiet from the leaders of the celiac forum. Anyone else celiac here with similar experience?

I have been gluten free for about two years, but still struggled. I have been on the SC Diet since October and loving the yogurt. It's so so good. I don't cheat much. Follow the diet closely except for the teaspoon of gluten free creamer I have in my coffee each morning. I'm getting better fast now! I think this diet should be widely publicized, but it's not. When I do a web search on celiac this diet should be First on the list! But it's NOT. WHY????

Actually, that's how Dr. Haas' diet almost disappeared, and would have,

if not for Elaine Gottschall. All politics. Much easier to declare

" celiac " as " gluten intolerant " and not other

issues.

My niece is diagnosed celiac and has done well on SCD. She's even been

able to add some non-SCD foods back to her diet, just like Elaine's

daughter.

We're doing our best to publicize the diet -- one reason this is a

mostly-open list. (I figure it's worth the occasional bit of annoying

spam if even a few people find us as a result.)

Is there any interest in a website - and forum? I suppose we may have trouble finding advertisers to help pay for it, but I'm seriously thinking of creating one for us celiacs and promote the original diet. What do you think?

IF swiss water if ok - they did mention starbucks - but at this

point I'd say -stay clear

i was GF too and I know what you mean on the celiac site - just

another mind set -they can basically eat everything- as i always say

I'm totally happy with scd ,don't miss anything and will probably be

scd for life BUT i'd give my left arm to be just GF - it's so no big

deal - no extra cooking, anything you want just buy in GF form not a

prob at all - my celiac sons live that way plus some scd stuff that's

naturally scd - that we've always eaten - BUT I cringe at the thought

of more damaged people putting that stuff in them -someone gave me a

crohn/colitis cookbook - it was just like a plain one - it was awful

the stuff they said to eat - I could feel the damage happening - i

can't even give it to anyone as I'd feel guilty corroding their

insides

enough babble - avoid anything iffy ( in this case the decaf coffee )

and go 100% fanatical adherence and heal yourself!! good luck

Starbucks is not OK. They do not use the Swiss water process. The logo

you are looking for is an S with a little wave thing under it. I

contacted their corporate offices myself to find out.

Most other good coffee places DO use Swiss water process decaf. I know

that Coffee Bean and Caribou both do, for example.

Garth would be a good person since her son has/had autism and

she wrote a book about changing his diet and how it helped.

Oprah would be good if you can get to her with all the emails

and requests she gets.

What about Ellen?

I was working on getting us a Forum when I was diagnosed with endometrial

cancer last year, and I'm afraid that project kind of went by the

wayside.

I want to talk to a few people about this and see what can be done,

although for the present, this list works OK. <g> At least it has

archives! The old Long Island List did not.

One thing is that the website and all would require some kind of paid

membership because I would be suspicious of any advertisers... and I

wouldn't want non-legal stuff advertised on it. And, since I haven't

worked in over a year, I don't have the funds to cover it, much as I

would like to. I want the information to be freely available to everyone

who has gut issues, whether it's IBS, IBD, celiac, diverticulitis, or

whatever.

Marilyn, Just my 2 cents....I think this list works fine and it's free (always a bonus!). I like having the posts come to my inbox and if I need to look at something that was discussed in the past, I can look through the archives. I don't think it's fair for any one person to have to take on the expense of paying for some place for us to have our discussions. Yeah, we get the occasional spammer but nothing that is unmanageable. I think the list is great and you've done a great job! If it ain't broke......Take care,Kim H.
