Hi everyone,

My husband finally stopped bleeding! 2 day now. We have been

strictly on the intro diet for a week and then added in a bit of

spinach salad and beef once but he's been fine.

Also, we got re-tested for H.Pylori after a month of supplememt

therapy specific to killing this bacteria and it seems to have

worked. It appears to be all gone. He was found having a large

quantity of another bacteria though and is now on supplements and

homeopathics that the naturopath is sure will get rid of it. This

may have helped things along a bit as he started it about 4 days

ago.

He is still having a lot of constipation and absolutely will not go

if he doesn't have a glass of prune nectar each day. We are a little

nervous to add more foods into the diet now that he's stopped

bleeding for 2 days. Any suggestions what to start with?

Sincerely,

Lorian and Greg

That's wonderful news!

I'd start with something simple like green beans (well cooked) or zucchini (peeled, de-seeded and well cooked). Those two seem to be well tolerated by most people.

Have you seen the chart at http://www.pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#beyond It is just a guide because everyone is different but it will help you decide in what order to introduce foods after the intro.

Best wishes,

Hooray! That's wonderful to hear!

I would be very, VERY careful about any kind of raw vegetables. (I know,

I know -- I'm a salad person, myself, but had to go to all cooked for

many months, otherwise the lettuce and so forth tended to come through,

er, undigested.)

Peeled steamed zucchini can be delicious -- there were occasions, early

on, when I thought I should do a cook book on " 101 Ways To Fix

Steamed Zucchini, " since I made quiches with it, had veggie dishes,

made crackers with it, and dipping chips and goodness knows what

else!

I can also recommend French cut green beans, well-steamed. I found that I

did well with the French cut even when regular green beans caused a

reaction.
