Is two weeks on the diet too early to try the Lois Lang Bread using

pecan flour?

Also, another question..............................For the people on

this list that are on the diet for

Diverticulitis..................since you've been on the diet (for ever

how long) have you had any more " attacks? "

Tonya, my hubby has both crohns and diverticulitis and the only prob

is that high fibre for one causes a prob for the other, he also has to

monitor inflamation markers and crohns markers and make them both

lower at the same time, not easy. He has just had a flare of

diverticulitis and has had to cut out some of the bread type products

to reduce his fibre intake and eat more mushy foods but is coping

well.

with Diverticulitis to eat NO seeds, nuts, corn, etc. I was just

wondering if the nut flour would do the same thing as whole nuts would

do to me. I've been very faithful for the past two weeks but sometimes

you just want something else! Also, I thought that would help me gain

a little weight. I don't need to gain lots but would like to gain about

10 lbs. back. I've lost 20 lbs. since around Thanksgiving. That

leaves me at 122 lbs. for my 5'5 " . My clothes are very loose. Also,

my energy level is NOT what it used to be. Will that get better

also??? Sorry I'm so full of questions. Maybe I'm more concerned

than I should be.

Tonya,

If you're really craving bread, go with one of the souffle breads... I

love the Lois Lang bread, whether made with almond or pecan flour, but

the souffle breads are better at this stage of the game.

I'd gladly be 122 pounds! I'm also 5'5 " , and weigh only 100 pounds.

Can you eat avocados? They're very good for weight gain. Do you eat

yogurt? If so, make it with half and half (or even whole cream). I

wish I could do that, but since my family also consumes it, I'm stuck

with just whole milk. Coconut oil is also supposed to be good, but I

haven't tried it yet.

Hi Holly,

WOW, 100 lbs.? That is low. How long have you been on the diet?

My husband is overweight by about 40 lbs. and we are hilarious in the

kitchen. He's counting calories to loose weight and I'm counting

calories to gain! Yesterday for supper I had two stewed chicken legs

with some stewed zucchini and carrots. I put everything in a bowl and

then put 2 TBsp. of butter plus 1 TBsp. of olive oil on top and mixed

it all up. I salted it and it was delicious. That gave me an extra 320

calories!

Yes, I eat at least one half of an avocado each day and most days I eat

a whole one. I do eat yogurt. I make it with raw goat milk (heated to

the right degree) and have been using the Dannon Naturals store bought

yogurt for the starter. I ordered the stuff from the GI place and am

waiting for it to come in the mail. I really wish I could eat

bananas. They give me bad indigestion. Even when they are very ripe.

Someone mentioned making a frosting out of honey and coconut oil. That

sounded yummy. I may do that.

Blessings, Tonya

Good morning Holly,

its me again. I shouldn't have said anything about your weight.

Please forgive me!!! I get ill when someone comments about how much

weight I've lost and here I go and do the same thing. Please forgive

me. I'm going to pray that you and I will gain a little weight. I

also noticed that you had been on the diet since Dec. I've only been

on it two weeks yesterday. Anyway, I wanted to apoligize.

Prayers & blessings,

No need to apologize, I'm not touchy about my weight :). I've always

been skinny, even before the crohn's.

I've been lucky and haven't lost any weight on SCD, even though I

don't eat a lot. Many people do lose during the first months.

Once you get to the point of adding nut butter, that will help. I

recently started eating 1 pecan butter brownie a day, which is almost

200 calories.

Holly,

Have you tried the pumpkin pie recipe - made with pumpkin or

butternut/cup squash?

pretty basic and delicious. p. 123 in my BTVC.
