Guest guest
W, I go to Curves and oddly enough love it! I hate exercise, but this is fun (and there is one lady who can really push me if I need it). Alice in Dallas WLS in future..... > > Does anyone in the group belong to Curves? Guest guest
I beloned to Curves in the past. I did enjoy it and saw an increase in stamina, and inches lost, not much in weight lost. I belong to a much more " hard core " gym now. I have to say that after redading about exercise for weight loss and muscle mass increase on my own and then talking to an employee I believe the gym is a better choice. Muscle needs time to heal between workouts, about 48-72 hours. If you work the same muscles everyday they only break down and do not have the time to rebuild. Anyway I do cardio on treadmill 3 days a week 3 miles in under an hour, the other three days a week I do 10-15 minutes of cardio first, then work out on several machines ( ie back and arms, or legs and chest) then I finish up with a quick mile on the treadmill ( trying for 15 minutes, at 16.45 now). Just my humble opinion.
Guest guest
I thought about a gym. Would love to have a personal trainer at one. Guess I'll check out the local gyms & see what it costs. I need someone to motivate me. W 380/327/160 rcb1230 wrote: > I beloned to Curves in the past. I did enjoy it and saw an increase in > stamina, and inches lost, not much in weight lost. Guest guest
I have been a member of Curves for a couple of years, and each time I worked out and stuck with it, really lost inches. The staff was EXTREMELY motivating with little contests and things. I will definately rejoin as soon as I can post op. Date of Surgery 8/21 > > Does anyone in the group belong to Curves? Guest guest
My sister is doing curves and she called me yesterday to report that in her first month she has lost 7 inches and 13 lbs. She is so excited and I am excited for her. Curves can work if you work it. Woodard wrote: Thanks Alice. Some people I work w/ go. Guest guest
Thanks Shauna! I think I might try it out for a few months just to get myself back in shape & then switch to a gym. Guest guest
I joined Curves this past March. I love it. My 11 year old daughter joined with me for only $10 more. We go at least 3 times a week, and I try for 4 or 5 (2 by myself). I like the variety, and I like that it's quick, easy, and a get a good sweat going. There are lots of cool equipment there, and you change stations every 30 seconds. Good luck Molly pre-op 315/150 > > Does anyone in the group belong to Curves? I'm thinking of joining. Guest guest
Ohhhhh! They will let kids do it too? I'll have to ask about that! It would be fun for my daughter & I to do it together! Guest guest
Yep, they let kids join too as long as the adult has joined. I looked into it and, as was mentioned, it is only $10 more per month for a child to join as well. As is quite common in homes with obese parents, both of my teenage girls are overweight. They are not terribly overweight, but they ARE overweight. I took my 14 year old with me the day I went to check it out and they actually allowed her to do the workout for free and see what she thought about it. She liked the fast pace... She is ADHD (hyper and impulsive primarily) and the fast pace coupled with the change of stations every 30 seconds kept her attention and kept her involved. If at some point I decide to go ahead with it, she will be my workout buddy... We do so little together due to my weight that this will be a good thing for both of us.
