Guest guest
Dear Dee, Welcome out of " lurkdom " and congratulations on your excellent weight loss. Be encouraged about your co-morbs. You're just 4 weeks out and it might be a few months down the road when you see them slowly going away. Be encouraged! Love, Trace in Va. Beach, VA Dr. Schechner, Norfolk and Va. Guest guest
Hi Dee - You are doing fine! Congrats on those 46 pounds. You will get more used to eating food and be able to fit it in better as time goes on. And those medicines will eventually go away, too. I am still on my blood pressure medication. Give it some more time, and don't get discouraged. You really are doing great. Keep telling yourself that! Jeanne in WI Age 39 Open RNY 05/21/2002 314/ 246/150-175 5' 8 " djgraves@... Guest guest
Congratulations on your weight loss. I can't wait to join all of people on the losing side. I enjoy reading your notes so i will know what to expect. Everyone here has been such and inspiration to me. Keep up the good work. By the way do you have any before & after pictures? My before are posted on the web sight. Amy 351 1/2 / 319 today surgery date 11/11/2002 -- Hello Hi, I don't post very often as I am usually a lurker, but I am going to try to do better. I am 4 weeks post op from a open Rny/distal with Dr. Oh in Federal Way Washington as my doctor. Yesterday I went to the doctor for my 4 week check up and I am down 46 lbs. It may seem strange but it just doesn't seem real to me yet. Yesterday I started my soft foods. For the first 2 weeks post op I had no problems getting all of my vitamins in and drinking 4 protein drinks daily. Last week I started having trouble getting them all down. This week I am so full. It is hard to eat 4 times a day (just a shot glass sized portion) drink 4 or more protein drinks and take all of my vitamins. I am so surprised that eating food isn't as exciting as I thought it would be. That's ALL I could think of these last weeks and now its like a couple of bites and I'm full and it doesn't seem as flavorful as I was anticipating. My little dog is loving it though and is sitting and waiting by my side when I am eating now. She only weighs 5 lbs but probably won't be that weight for long if it keeps on like this, lol. I still have a lot of tiredness and low energy and sadly still have all of my co-morbities. I still have to take oral diabetic pills and insulin injections along with everything else I had pre-op:( I had so hoped that I would be off one or the other after surgery. Thanks all for listening. Guest guest
> Donna, > I was wondering how you are doing and feeling? I have not spoken to you in a while and wanted to know if there has been any changes with your RSD? Things havent changed much, still having some burning but with the help of the neurontin the pain dr put me on Friday its better. I've had alot of swelling in my hands and wrist but it subsides after awhile. I was told by my doctors nurse that by law they do not have to answer the doctors request for 30 days. I was unaware that they could take up to 30 days to answer a drs treatment request, sounds absurd to me but then again not much surprises me lately LOL. I'm due for 3 more injections myself and am waiting for w/c to approve them but I've only been waiting since Friday to hear from them. Not that I'm in a rush to go back for more but admittedly they did help some. I was reading in another email that you wrote, about your pay. My pay? LOL theres a whole novel in itself! Apparently they combine your pay from date of injury back to date of hire or 1 yr which ever is less. I was making 8.00 an hour before I passed my certification, when I did they boosted me up to 12.50/hr but that was only about a month before I was initially injured. That makes a big impact on my income now since they take that and deduct 40% off that gross pay. I called my case manager yesterday and she said that date of injury was incorrect as she had closed that file and reopened one from May 11 when I reinjured my neck and arm and THATS the one they are supposed to be basing my income on which makes a big difference! So she was going to contact the woman in charge of my checks and straighten it out however it wont affect this weeks check fortunately they owed me 5 days pay so I will get that at least. Hope all is well with you! Take care! HUGS Donna

Guest guest
Hi Jeanette, Welcome to the group. You have to have patience to deal with this process though so you don't stress yourself out. I mean stay on top of them to get it done, but dont stress. That is good. We look forward to sharing this time with you. Ask any questions you have, we have people here in all stages. Best Wishes, Shauna Jeanette wrote: I am Jeanette Grove; I am 39 years old and have been morbidly obese most of my life. The idea of Weight Loss Surgery was first suggested to me by a physician that I had while living in South Carolina. At first I have to admit I wanted no part of this, I am not one to like physicians, hospitals, etc... It wasn't till about 2 years ago, that I had decided to do some research and check into having Weight Loss Surgery. Honestly, I believed at the time that Weight Loss Surgery was I hate to say it but " the easy way out " , but after the last year and all the visits to the Doctors' office and the wait of Insurance Approval and listening to Post WLS patients, I have realized this whole process is anything but easy. Patience and Commitment these are two qualities I was believing that I lacked, boy was I wrong (chuckle, chuckle) . I have found out that I cut myself short when it comes to describing my good qualities, because my friends and family tell me and have told me that I have to be the most committed and patient person they know, at times I even cause them to get upset because I am " too patient " and refuse to be persistent in fear that I might be looked at as being " pushy " Anyways, Title 19 (Medicaid) denied me the first time due to the fact that I lacked 6 months or more of physician recommended and documented dietary notes, so I am awaiting approval from Title 19 which should be any day. I have a hernia on my C-Section incision that has been repaired 3 times now and it needs immediate attention, so this is a plus because my PCP (Primary Care Physician) and the Surgeon(s) .want to do the Lap Band and Hernia repair at one time. I am looking to your group as a way to obtain information, share experiences support, and share information. Thank You, Jeanette Grove

Guest guest
It is just natural to be scared. What brought you to the decision to have the surgery in the first place? Only you will know if it is the right decision for you. Good luck Australia 321/261/176 Hello I am getting set to see my surgeon.I have to admit I am a little scared as the day gets closerI wonder am I really making the right decision? Guest guest
Hi, Only you can decide if youa re making the right decision. You have to way the pros and cons and decide what its worth for you. You have to have the mindset of change and determination. It is scary to make such a drastic change. Once we have this surgery and lose the weight, we lose the identitiy and excuses that comes with being heavy. Atleast that is how it has been for me. I was hiding behind my weight and found the weight loss more scary then the surgery. Now I am happier then ever at -97 lbs. It is exciting and life with my family is awesome... for me... there was so much to gain and I had determination to make it work. You can do this!! When you see those lbs disappearing and your eating right, exercising, etc... You just feel so good. Best Wishes to you and prayers on your decision!!
