Guest guest
Sure, I called 1-800-ID-ALERT. I had a severe allergic reaction (anaphalyxis - when throat starts to close) to Macrobid. I also have Diabetes Mellitus. >>>Can you tell me where you got yours? and what the heck is Anaphylaxis Macrobid, DM?
Guest guest
Do you have to have an official diagnosis? How much does it cost? Kim Re: Medical ID Sure, I called 1-800-ID-ALERT. Guest guest
Well, all of my diagnoses except adrenal fatigue are documented. You give them the information so if you are on HC, I think that sould qualify because we cannpot just go off of it suddenly. Their website is www.medicalert.org - I think, I couldn't get into it just now. I pay $25.00 a year for the basic membership plus the cost of whatever bracelet you choose. I've been a member for a long time so I don't remember the initial package. I think I got my first bracelet cheaply.

Guest guest
Hi , If you are concerned about what your medical care woiuld be like if you are unconscious (and say, you are on hydrocortisone) then it might be a good idea to become a member of Medic Alert. My first bracelet was purchased for me by the NIH, now that I think about it. I just last week added adrenal insufficiency to my list if diagnoses. >>>hi grammy D,i would like to know about your medic bracelet as well. do you need a official diagnosis?or can i call and tell them my information? Guest guest
If you are on HC, you should wear medical alert. I was initially being treated for " adrenal fatigue " prescribed 15 mgs. per day and was never told by my doc that I needed med-alert ID. Then, I had an ACTH stim test by an endo and it was abnormal. He explained to me that I would not be able to mount a stress response in the event of an emergency and that I definitely needed Medical alert ID. He then increased my dose to 20 mgs. per day and I now wear med-alert. If anything had happened before I saw the endo, and I didn't have the med-alert....well, I may not be here to post this. So, keep in mind that what's important is not so much that you have an OFFICIAL diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency, but that the med-alert ID states you do. This is what hospital personnel are going to care about. If you become unconscious, accident, etc. and they see " adrenal insufficiency " on a bracelet, they are not going to ask any questions, they are just going to give you that shot of cortisol that's going to save your life.
