Any milk by definition has casein. However, the long fermentation for SCD yogurt denatures the casein and makes it ok for most people. If you're not wanting to take a chance, you can look into nut milk yogurts. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Marilyn - Does fermentation denature the whey protein too? If you mean the liquid which can be drained off yogurt, that's water of hydrolysis, according to Elaine. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Since my strongest allergy is to " whey " , I'm wondering if it too gets " denatured " like the casein? Does anyone know? I'm not an organic chemist, so I legitimately do not know. I think it would be. Although a whey protein issue might explain why so many people do better with well-dripped or drained yogurt. I know I have always done better with dripped yogurt, apart from preferring the thicker texture. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
