Guest guest
My doctor had me get the test from Prometheus. If I had known how much it cost, I wouldn't have gone along with it. It was hell to get insurance to pay for it, but they finally did. But only after a collection agency harassed me for several months. If I recall, the cost was $500, and this was 6 years ago. The ironic part is that I only had that GI doctor for a month or two before I had to move again, so I never actually got the results. Guest guest
I also had the Prometheus testing done and paid almost $500 out of pocket. I was really mad when my GI dr didn't give me a head's up about that one. My test came back " uncertain " about which disease I have. My markers are similar for both UC and Crohn's, so I have an " indeterminant " diagnosis right now until I have another colonoscopy. I was first diagnosed with UC in 2003 and then after developing an abcessed fistula, it was changed to Crohn's in 2007 because apparently, fistulas " ONLY " occur if you have Crohn's disease. I personally think I was wounded during a sigmoidoscopy, but that cannot be proven. So even if I could get off the Remicade for my UC/C, I shouldn't because Remicade is the only thing that works for fistulas. Guest guest
Hey .. My diagnosis has been toggled as well. It first developed as CD so I consider it such but all doctors read my file and say Crohn's Colitis. One said it's Crohn's in the Colon while a different doc said it's classic Colitis in the colon but I proceeded to ask " I have all of this disease in my small intestine how can you label it Colitis " . Different complications also had this toggling thing going on- is it CD or Colitis? I just couldn't care anymore. Not really sure at this point if the exact terminology makes a difference?
