Guest guest
Dear , My pre-op appointment went something like this: 1. Weight and measurements taken by dietician/nurse. Picture taken, front and side views. 2. Post-op diet handout given and gone over with diet/nurse. 3. Met surgeon for the first time and he went over what to expect the day of the surgery, the actual procedure, the complication rate, HIS complication rate (this was very assuring), went over his post-op guidelines -- What to do, what not to do, etc., 4. Had a physical examination of my upper body -- chest, breasts, stomach, lower pelvis but not a GYN exam, with nurse present. All my lab work, upper G.I., chest x-ray, blood work, EKG, etc., had been done two weeks before at the hospital. It was nice meeting my surgeon, asking him questions and " getting to know him " a little bit before my surgery date. You'll do just fine, . Love, Trace in Va. Guest guest
Dear Diamondsonwater, A lot of people here will encourage you to start drinking mix-with-water protein drinks. Visit <A HREF= " http://www.vitalady.com/ " >Vitalady.com </A>and learn how protein supplements will become your very best friend. These protein powders are low-sugar, high protein and mix with water for a great way to ensure adequate protein consumption pre-op and post-op. Start drinking as much water as you can, NOW. You'll need to drink 64 ounces of water, daily, when you're post-op. My surgeon's office told me not to diet BEFORE surgery because they thought it would be ... fruitless to try another diet when I was having WLS because I couldn't lose the weight with dieting. I understood what they were getting at but I cut out all sodas and started eating better anyway. I lost 9 pounds (in about two weeks) but gradually gained it back (like I used to) before the day of my surgery. Take good care and welcome to the GBIC email group! Love, Trace in Va. Guest guest
To boss29: Absolutely, yes, these fibroids can cause your periods to be way out of wack. It also sounds like your pain in your groin could be caused by fibroids. My fibroids used to cause me pains all sorts of places (groin, back, etc.) Have you been diagnosed with fibroids by a dr?? And if so, what type do you have? What other symptoms do you have? mary
Guest guest
, I have diagnosed by a doctor that I have a tumor in my uterues that is all that he told me. I saw that when I am an vaginal ultrasound. Appartently I have had this tumor for two yrs that I know about the only reason why I know that is because i had a Lap done and my new doctor got my results from my Lap and told when he was doing my us that my tumor had not grown since my Lap. Now mind you the doc that did my LAp never told me that I had a tumor anywhere. He told me that my tubes where not blocked and thatI had no endo. I have pain during sex and my periods are very painful with backaches and awful cramps. And I have backaches all the time and lifting heavy stuff bothers me. Guest guest
Yes, fibroids can cause your period to be out of wack. Yes, pelvic pain in your groin area can be caused by fibroids. Arthritis? What joint do you mean? They can run tests to determine arthritis. theboss29@... wrote:HI all I have a couple questions about fibroids. Can these fibroids cause your period to be out of wack? There have been times that I get my period and it only last for about 6 hours and then other months I go for my normal three days. I also have pelvic pain in my groin area. I have been to the ER for this pain and was told that it was arthritis could it really be that or could it be the fibroid that is causing the pain. Now when they told me is was arthritis they never did any kind of test on me.
Guest guest
Hi I went to the ER with pelvic pain before I knew that I had a fibroid and ER doc told me that I had arthritis in my pelvic area. He never did any test on me to determine that I had arthritis. He just lifted my legs and asked if it hurt and of course it did and he told me that he thought that I had arthritis. And put me on Vioxx. Carol
Guest guest
, I can tell you that I always feel worse when the humidity is high or it is extremely hot outside. It was real bad last summer, but I am finding that since I was also diagnosed with the MS it is even worse! July and August seem to be the worst time of year for me! I hope this helps you somewhat! Take Care and Wish you pain free days and nights!!!! LOL Dawn L. wrote: I would like to ask 2 questions for everyone. Has anyone ever gotten Pleurisy or CMV (cytomegalovirus) since they were diagnosed with RSD??And does anyone for a particular time of year you find yourself more sick than rest of the year?? Guest guest
, I have not gotten either of those that I know of - do they find that from blood work or what kind of tests? As for the time of the year, I've had RSD for about a year now and the high humidity and damp, storms and rain all make me feel worse. I live in Florida so the summer months have been pretty brutal. My RSD is full body though and I've also been diagnosed with Lupus and a few other things, so it's hard sometimes to know what is causing which pain. I don't believe I've met you yet but wanted to say hi and welcome to the group. I hope you are having a good weekend and I look forwad to getting to know you better. <hugs> Lori
Guest guest
I started the whole process in January and had a fight with my insurance company about where I was allowed to have the surgery. I had my consult with program director and all of my evaluations done in April. I just saw the surgeon on Tuesday of this week and he is going to write a letter to my ins company to get approval for me to have the surgery. After I get the approval I will be scheduled for the surgery. I have done things backwards from you, I had to jump all the hoops first then get ins approval.ugh. So since the first consult that I had it has taken 2 months hopefully will only take another month. I cant stand the waiting anymore. I want to be normal sized, Barb " xxdedexx@... Guest guest
.... from one who is considering surgery. 1) I never acquired a taste for coffee but I take caffein in the form of a 24 oz. Diet Pepsi three of four times a day (believe it or not, the regular Pepsi I find too sweet). Carbonated beverages disallowed? What to do? 2) I've been told to adjust my attitude from " live to eat " to " eat to live " . I've had some success in doing that by removing the " positive feedback " from eating - basically making the meal as bland as possible and turning the act of eating into a perfunctory exercise. What if I limited my diet to just protein drinks or maybe baby food (or its equivalent)? Would that be ill-advised? 3) I've been told that it should take 45 minutes to eat a meal that fills the pouch and that you should not drink liquids with the meal. Are there acceptable variances to this pattern? 4) I've been told no alcohol, including beer. Others say it's OK. Is it that it affects people differently or is there some health restriction? Thanks to all who reply. VeryJuniper
