I'd love to have these questions answered, also. Plus one - what is the 3

month starvation?

<< 1. What kind of medical problems did you have prior to

surgery?>> high blood pressure, arthritis, fatigue, sleep problems, etc.

2. Have your problems improved since surgery? >> They're nearly gone! BP is

normal, arthritis is not a constant problem, my energy level is WAY up, and I

can sleep through the night.

3. What was your weight before surgery and how much weight have you lost

since surgery? >> My BMI at the time of surgery was 69, it is now 62.

4. What kind of complications; if any, did you have after surgery?>> none!

5. Did you have problems getting approval from your insurance company? >> No.

6. Did you get the full support from your family and friends?>> Yes.

7. Did you get the full support from your physician?>> Yes; I visited with

him prepared and with a copy of the Patient Manual for him to keep.

8. Did you have to find a psychiatrist or do you already have one since an

evaluation has to be done?>> The psych eval doesn't have to be done by a

psychiatrist...a qualified psychologist can do an MMPI. The main thing is

having your network in order should you need counseling after surgery.

9. Have you experienced any emotional problems since the surgery?>> You mean

other than deciding that I'm pretty hot stuff???...no, I'm happier than I

can remember being in many years. It shows; people are telling me how much

happier they believe me to be.

10. If you had to travel for surgery, then did you experience any problems

with having to stay in a motel to recuperate?>> Nope! I laid in my supplies

prior to surgery and then just went back to the motel and holed up taking

care of myself until my plane left.

11. If you had adhesions prior to surgery, did Dr. Rutledge run into any

problems with the MGB? If he did, then what were the problems?>> I did have

adhesions; Dr. R worked lap for about two hours, he said, then gave me an

incision to finish up. It wasn't a problem; the incision AND my four porthol

es have healed nicely!

12. If you could change anything about your surgery what would it be?>> I

would like to have found Dr. R several years ago to have the MGB sooner.

13. If you had to do it over again, would you still have the surgery?>>

Faster than a New York minute!

14. What has your eating been like since surgery?>> Very mellow, very

relaxing; I've stuck to the 8 weeks of liquids...and it really makes a

difference because I followed Dr. R's directions.

15. Have you had your gallbladder removed previously?>> No.

16. Have you had a hysterectomy previously?>> Yep.

17. Have you had your appendix removed previously?>> Yep

18. Can you please list 5 pros and 5 cons to this surgery?>> PROS: I eat to

live, not live to eat; I'm healthy again; I like myself; my energy level

is very high; I don't need naps anymore; I can sleep through a whole night!

I can't think of any CONS.

19. Did you have any vitamin or mineral deficiencies?>> Nope.

20. Did you have any hair loss? If so, how much?>> Too soon to know.

21. How did you handle the three month starvation period?>> There is no

three month starvation period. Ask me about this another time. That's not

true...you don't starve yourself at all.

22. What time frame have you set for yourself and what is your goal?>> To

live my life as God intends me to.

23. What time frame did you take to feel like yourself again?>> I didn't put

myself under that kind of pressure; I just trusted that God would take care

of me.

24. If you have had previous surgeries for whatever reason, how do you

compare those with the MGB?>> The MGB is a piece of cake!
