Guest guest
Hello group, Hope you all had the best Thanksgiving possible. I worked. It was ok. By the end of the shift though, I was so tired I could hardly walk. Anyway, want to say that I have noticed a fibromyalgia commercial playing more often now. It might be the same one it was before, but it has the Lyrica mentioned. Even if it is a pharmaceutical commercial, at least it is a start to spreading the word. It is a good one. I had one or two people at work yesterday comment on it and say " oh, don't you have fibromyalgia " ? I said yes. That is what I have been trying to tell some of them for a long time. At least some kind of education is reaching the public even if it is only the tip of the iceberg. And I have also decided that I won't shut up about telling people about this disease. I use to kind of just keep it to myself. But the last 2 or 3 months I decided when they say " you look like you don't feel well " ..... I tell them it is " fibromyalgia " . This naturally leads to a few words to explain something about what it is. I no longer am going to make excuses like " I am just tired today " or " I just don't feel good for some reason " . NO. I am tired of the lack of information. I have decided that if people think I am a moron, I don't care. They can believe me or not. I don't care. Because I am sick and tired of the lack of information out there to the general public and tired of alot of us being labeled " lazy " , " crazy " , or hypochondriacs. I will keep on with educating anyone I can. I REFUSE TO BE ASHAMED OF THIS AFFLICTION ANY LONGER. Now don't get me wrong, I don't just walk around starting up the subject every minute of everyday. I don't push the information on anyone and make it my only subject or thought. But when the opportunity arises...... I AM TELLING THEM. Be brave. None of you should ever be afraid to mention it or tell people about it. If they think you are a lunatic, then so be it. At least it won't be some little secret anymore that doctors refuse to talk about. THEY CAN BELIEVE ME OR NOT...... I don't care. Of course it is not the fault of the general public that there has been almost no mass media messages about this until now. And thank goodness for Lyrica even if it does not work for all of us or is not an option for some of us. Even if it is part of the ploy to promote a drug, it is the beginning of the end of silence.
