Guest guest
Christy, I don't know what it is, but I don't think it's ugly. At least it's green, which is more than I can say for some of my plants. -- Ugly plant This is the butt-ugly plant Ronnie's work sent me during my last surgery. Can anyone tell me what it is and how to care for it? All they said when they delivered it (like I remember anything else that day!) was water it at the leaves and fill the "cups" in the leaves with water. A friend of mine said it's a bromeliad (she pronounces is bromelaid... brom-a-laid not bro-mill-ee-ad) btu I looked those up and it doesn't look the same and it says those are air plants. This one is planted in soil and it's huge. Do I need to transplant it? Can I plant it in the ground outside? How big does it get? It already looks too big for the container. Guest guest
Its a bromelia(d). Your friend was right. http://bsi.org/ for care Its a cousin of the pineapple and spanish moss, yep spanish moss. lol Since bromeliads, in their natural habitat, grow under such varied conditions as: rain forest, cloud forest, nightly fog or heavy morning dew, the rule of thumb for watering is: water well and allow to dry before watering again. Tank type bromeliads are those that hold water in the cup and leaf axils; frequent flushing by pouring fresh water over the plant, inverting and filling again is recommended to prevent stagnation and buildup mineral salts. The quality of the water is important. Tap water can generally be used for watering the pots. Better results are obtained by using rain, distilled or reverse-osmosis water for the tanks. Guest guest
This is the one they sent me before that. I KNOW these are air plants because they aren't planted LOL I mist them every few days and just leave them alone. Maybe I've found something I can't kill LOL Ugly plant This is the butt-ugly plant Ronnie's work sent me during my last surgery. Can anyone tell me what it is and how to care for it? Guest guest
OK if it's an air plant, why so the babies grow roots? Do I take it out of the pot it's in and turn it over to see if there are any babies? Since it has a bloom on it (and it's been there since I got it a year ago) does that mean it's going to die?
