Ann,

We stayed at the Duke Towers Suites. It is close to the hospital. Very

quiet. It's set up like a 1 bedroom apartment. It was $65. per night with

the Dr. Rutledge discount.

<< Ladies: did any of you who had the surgery wear sculptured nails. >>

I just had surgery and I did not remove my acrylic nails. I think what might

make a difference is that I have what is called " Pink & White " . I don't wear

color. You can still see my nail bed.

Anne -

Dr. R's pre-op orders are specific about removing sculptured nails. I am no

medical professional but I believe a lot can be told about oxygen saturation

from your nail beds.

Sincerely,

na

Acrylic nails should not be a problem, especially if the product they use is

clear. You cannot wear fingernail polish though.......you will need to wear

an oxymeter probe on your finger, and it cannot " read " through polish. I

have acrylic nails and I don't have any problems with the pulse ox probe

reading through my nails (I have to test ours at work occaisionally.) I do

not believe you would have to remove them. Maybe when you call the

surgicenter for your operating room time you can ask them then. Even in the

worst of times they can use a toe if they have to. :-)) So take the polish

off your toes too!

and I need someone to e-mail me the list again(please).I'm such a klutz

these days. I don't know if it's excitement about the 20th or if I'm just

getting forgetful. Please forgive me. One other thing::Ladies: did any of

you who had the surgery wear sculptured nails. I don't know if I'll need to

have them removed or what. I hope not as that is pretty expensive to put

back on.I've worn them for 20 some odd years because my own are terrible.I

feel neeked without them. Ann in Ok. pre-op 3-20 14 days and holding!!!!!!!

Dear Sue,

I brought my 10 year old, . He was very concerned about me and although

we flew out Christmas Day and he had the choice of staying behind with his

gifts or coming with me he still wanted to come. I was fortunate in having

Scuffle as my real-time, Southern Belle Angel. Her son is the same

age and she has a Goddaughter who's a little older.

Also, my folks and DH took to Duke for one afternoon. They got to

watch the basketball team practice and I understand the chapel is very

impressive.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

na
