I'm glad to hear your labs are good.

Isn't Viactiv loaded with sugar? I'd rather swallow my calcium and save my

sugar intake for foods that have sugar and I have no choice in the matter.

Worse, Viactiv is carbonate. Gives a nice supply of calcium to the kidneys, in

the form of stones, but doesn't feed the bones.

Just to be clear, Viactiv is not delivering any calcium your bones can use.

First labs were great!

Well I got the results from my first labs after surgery and the

doctor said there were great.

I was concerned because I've been taking a liquid vitamin and not the

tablets he recomended. I just couldn't stand the taste of the

chewables.

So my vitamins cosisted of some stuff called Seasilver and 2 Viactiv

chocolate chews daily. The Viactiv gives me my calcium, Potasium and

Vitamin D. The Seasilver gives me my multivitum requirements then

some.

Now I don't sell Seasilver nor will I ever! Its a MLM product and I

was very scepticle to take it but three people at the health food

store said it is one of the best multivitamins in their opinion.

It cost me $40 for a month but I was able to find it on ebay for $25

a bottle which is a little more reasonable.

Anyways .... just wanted to share the news.

Thanks,

Interesting.....

Each Viactiv has 3grams of sugar.... to me that is not " loaded "

Can you explain what is wrong with this type of calcium? What is the

proof that it is not as good? I've talked to two pharmisits about it

and they say it works just as well as the others.....

Thanks,

IN a regular stomach with acid. Which is not us.

But then, it doesn't REALLY work as well, either. Even normies have

osteoporosis, after 20 yrs of carbonate. Ah, but they do give kidney stones!

I guess the only proof we have in our world is off the record. About 70% of

those scanned had damage before they were 2 yrs out.

Pretty scary.

I should say I also didn't believe that one could be THAT much better.

Which is why I was dx with osteoporosis at age 50. But I got my kidney stone at

47. And I coulda switched then, but did I? Noooooooooooooooo.

I'm as brittle at 53 as I shoulda not been til 80. I don't know if I should

spell it stubborn or arrogant. Either way, it cost me & MY HONEY our bones.

And our result is typical.

Just as " well as the others " means, it works " just as well as the others that

are calcium carbonate " . The best absorbing calcium is citrate. That is what we

" long termers " have found - 7 years out for me and my Dexa is still perfect. I

WISH Viactiv was calcium citrate, cuz they are YUMMY!!!!

Thanks for the info. I will look into it.

Re: osteoporosis...... my doctor told me that Gastric patients don't

get osteoporosis as much because after they lose the weight they

still have a dense bone structure.... but then he said it takes a

while for this to get normal..... which didn't make sence to me

cause then don't you have " normal bones " which can get

osteoporosis....

So here is a dumb question.... do many men get osteoporosis?

Incorrect. WE are THOUGHT to have dense bones because we carry a lot of weight.

That's as valid as assuming all fat people are strong (muscley).

Many heavy people go into surgery with osteoporosis (my guess would be all the

dieting), and then weight loss exacerbates it. WILDLY.

When we lose wt, we lose fat (we hope, bone (which we try to maintain with lots

of calcium citrate & wt bearing exercise) and muscle (which we try to maintain

with tons of protein). There's no way around it. And it happens FAST.

The bones are going out every day with the fat.

Oh yeah, I didn't address that part. IN our world, it's about equal to women.

Weight loss, lousy calcium. Works them same in men, too

Yep, I second this. I weighed 245 with osteoporosis. Dieting, no

calcium supplementation or exercise, contributed.
