I am post op and in response to the people who don't answer back about their

surgery I just wanted to say that it is very hard when you work full time and

have 4 kids to respond to every e-mail. I must get at least 10 e-mails a day

from people wanting to know about my experience with the MGB. I try to answer

all of them but sometimes they get lost in the shuffle of all my mail or I

just don't personally have the time. If I don't have the time right then I

try to e-mail the person right back and tell them that I will answer them on

my day off. A lot of times people don't ask specific questions either and

they just put could you tell me about your experience my answer to that is do

you have 6 months to listen to my whole story. If any of you pre ops are

reading this feel free to e-mail me anytime but please ask specific questions

it is a lot easier on us post ops. And now that the weather is getting nice

outside and I have lost 65 pounds I will probably never be at my computer but

instead outside walking or playing with the kids. I find that as the weight

comes off I have so much energy and barely ever find myself sitting at the

computer as I did when I was pre op and researching about the MGB. If this

helps any of you the MGB and Dr. Rutledge are wonderful and I would do it

again in a minute. Liz

I'd say that they just didn't want to be bothered. As a postop, I can

attest to the fact that it's a bit of a chore writing something off the top

of your head. It is much easier if the person doing the asking includes a

list of specific questions, or just asks permission to call.

Personally, when I get email requests for info I have a little form letter

I send back telling people that I'll be happy to answer any questions they

may have BY PHONE. That also has the effect of weeding out the less sincere

ones, since they now have to spend something on the phone call.

Steve

.. I've written them both more than once and

Alright,

Before this escalates I think it was a matter of a misunderstanding. I

think Terri thought that Steve ONLY wanted calls but he DID say that he

WOULD e-mail back those with SPECIFIC QUESTIONS. Now, let us all play nice

:) (((((hugs to all))))) Paige

I would like to add my $.02.

I am hoping the ones you got no response from are satisfied but the e-mail

can be overwhelming. I try to answer each and every one but the e-mail has

really gotten to be a lot! This list has grown so much (thank God!) but

sometimes it is a couple of weeks before I can respond to everyone. I would

also suggest trying a phone call if you have a number, if not, e-mail them

again! Good luck with everything!

in AL

MGB 8/2/99

85 lb. gone so far!

Tonni, In response to your questions I was up and walking just a couple of

hours after surgery. Walking actually felt better than trying to lay in a bed

so I walked and walked and walked. The gas pain is very bad after surgery so

walking helps with that a lot. As far as having more time with my children

lets just say it is more quality time now that I can get out and do things.

My 16 year old daughter had surgery with me on the same day so we are kinda

doing the post op thing together. Good Luck and if you have any more

questions just let me know. Liz

That's pretty much what I did, Steve. It's okay. I'll live.
