Guest guest
Trish, I understand what you're saying. I'm not looking forward to getting past that point. You are doing everything right. The only thing I can think of is that our bodies seem to have set points where they like to be, and makes it tough to get past it. Maybe someone else has some ideas? I would be so frustrated when you've worked so hard to do everything right. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/245/140 ?'s Hey there everyone! Hope your holidays are going well.. I am busy busy with work. Getting a little frustrated though.. It's been almost 5 months since my surgery and I am at a standstill.. I don't get it.. I am working out 5 days a week (3 cardio, 2 circuit training) eating the way I am supposed to and drinking de-caf hot tea and water like mad.. yet, my weight hasn't moved more than 2 pounds in the last month.. what I am doing wrong? On average, I burn 350 calories 5 days a week with the exercise.. and I am staying around 800 calories a day.. Not eating junk food at all.. protein shake for breakfast, tuna for lunch, protein bar mid-day snack, some sort of meat for dinner.. usually like a grilled chicken salad, or a chicken breast or something.. and nothing.. Is this normal? I still have 28 pounds to go until goal.. and I am just afraid that I am not going to get there.. Any help? Guest guest
Trish, I feel your pain...I am just 4 weeks post op and lost 15 lbs in the first 1.5 weeks, then gained 2, now NOTHING for the last 2.5 weeks!!! How can anyone loose only 15lbs after RNY then gain 2 lbs!? Like you, I am doing everything right and still only eating around 500-600 cals per day. I wish I had the solution as I would surely share it with you! Just wanting to let you know you aren't alone. I know we will get the scale moving. Keep posting and let me know if you find the magic bullet. 284/249/236 11/18/03 > weight hasn't moved more than 2 pounds in the last month.. what I am > doing wrong? Guest guest
Trish and , I had the same trouble!!! I lost 26 lbs the first 2 weeks, and then gained like 2 or 3!!!!! How depressing!!! I was only on liquids, too!!!! I think my body just went,,,what is going on?!!!!!..and held onto all the weight and fluids that it could. Since then, I am steadily losing each and every week. I know that I will hit a plateau, but so far, so good. Just hang in there.it does get better!!! sherri-postop 3 months, and down 92.2 lbs Re: ?'s > Trish, I feel your pain...I am just 4 weeks post op and lost 15 lbs > in the first 1.5 weeks, then gained 2, now NOTHING for the last 2.5 > weeks!!! Guest guest
You mentioned set points. I believe your body 'remembers' certain weights that you've been at different times of your life. My body remembered being 225 for the longest time.... Interestingly, I weighed 225 for a very long time years ago, so I do look forward to making the next 'set point' at 175.... that one should be a doosy! > Trish, I understand what you're saying. Guest guest
Relax...you hit plateaus...its normal. If you keep doing what you are supposed to be doing, the scale will move. It takes time. 5 months and 75 pounds, thats awesome. Also remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are doing heavier weights, your fat is turning into muscle. Be patient.....it will happen Mindi 277/176.5/115?? Lap RNY 6/26/
