Janet, I e-mailed P some time ago (her personal e-mail) but never

heard from her. Have had so much going haven't had time to try again. Plan

to call her soon. I believe (I may be wrong on this) that

several weeks ago she was doing better and was not going to post often for

awhile. Hopefully she is just enjoying feeling better and life.

The only time I do Janet, is after drinking too many Dr. Peppers. Sorry I'm

no help. When did this start with Pete? Has he seen a neurologist about it?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

To all: Pete would like to know if anyone suffers from tremors. His hands

tremor when at ease sometimes but it is getting worse when he tries to do

something like eat or write. Thanks Janet

Janet, I have had trouble with tremors for quite a while. In fact, when they

first started they were so intense that I could barely walk. I was rushed to

the hospital and the docs thought I was having seizures, muscle spasms and

going into convulsions. It was pretty scary at the time -- they kept me for

two days and couldn't really explain it. Hasn't been that bad since, but I

still shake every day.

Has Pete ever experienced something like what I described? I hope

not...........hang in there Pete!

The tremors are usually in my left side -- hand and arm usually are the

worst. You could say I'm entertaining to watch when I eat rice LOL!

Sometimes it is worse than others. My legs shake at times, also.

Love and Blessings,

: )

Yep - the cocoa has fiber... I can believe these are two points because they are tiny :-)

~~mary@...

The cocoa and coffee might provide a little? I don't buy that these are 2 points with the ingredients though.

Maggie

I got the starbucks frapucino bars because they were on sale this week and had heard that they were 2 pts well when I look at the NI it lists the fiber as 3 g now these are the ingredients and where in the world does the 3 grams come from? skim milk, sugar, coffee, maltodextrin, corn syrup, cream, cocoa, caramel color, stabilizers of guar gum, carob gum and dextrose. Can anyone help with this?

Dear canpops.

Sorry to tell u this but i had surgery 2 months ago for upper lower and i

still notice a little swelling in my cheeks! But the main big ugly swelling

usually stays 3 weeks and then starts going down really slowly.

Some advise if you keep thinking about it and looking in the mirror it will

not go, u just have to ignore it and eventually it will dissapere.

Also swelling is usually worse in the morning because you've been lieing

down , but it goes better after in the day.

Anyway good luck and get well soon.

Pops,

Do you think you might be rushing things? I'm still pre-op and I've been

told by my surgeon no work for 6-8 weeks. And my hubby will take a 4 week

leave of absence. I'd really stick to super soft mushy food like protein

drinks or baby food. Stage 2 is best. I even have bought myself toddler

fork and spoon because when I am post-op and able to eat, I know my mouth

will not open very far and since food will fall off a regular size spoon and

fork, I am planning on regressing to toddler utensils and work my way up.

Chew might mean mashed potato consistency or thinner like pudding. It is

toooooo soon yet to eat normal food.

Try to take more time before going back to work. It might be too soon, if

you ask me....

rest....

Hi Beth,

I am only 1 week post but I will tell you what my dr told me. In the

first week or so you will have a little water retention from all the IV's at the

hospital and your stomach is still swollen and stuff. The left side is where my

pain is as well. If I am not mistaken thats where our stomachs are and im

sure thats most of the pain. Its been through a lot in the last week. Keep up on

the liquids. WHen do you get off of them? Friday is my last day.>WOOOHOO Don't

know how much beef/chicken broth, SF Jello and crystal light Koolaid I can

take. I am ready to be able to do protein shakes as well cause I am tired of

these Ready To drink things.

As of yesterday which was 6 days post op I had only lost 6 pds post op! Which

brings me to like 17 total pounds.

I was told it gets better..i hope so. Keep up the good work.

question

Hi all,

I had my surgery on 20 Nov and am wondering what the average weight

loss for some of you guys were in the first week after surgery. I

have a follow up with my doc tomorrow and will find out then how much

on his scale, but my scale only shows a loss of 3LBS....and i know

that I am sticking to the liquids like I am supposed to...Just wanted

to see what it was for others. Also, I have lots of pain in my left

side, and I can assume this is because most of the work was done,

yes??? I did have mine LAP and had no problems with the surgery.

thanks for answer these few questions

I wouldn't be able to go to FL in the summer. I'd be flown back brain dead. I can't handle heat at ALL! I'd love to go but it wouldn't be worth it. I can't walk, talk and it's not a pretty sight.

Shirley

-- question

I'm having a brain fart and plotting something. If I book a resort condo for a week, who would really really be willing to try to make the trip? I'm wondering if some of us could get together this summer. I'll pay for the condo and food at the condo and you each pay for your trip there (wherever I get it) and eating out expenses if you don't like sandwiches. :)

Can I see a show of hands for those who would really make the effort and also if you would like to do this, what location would you prefer? I found one at Bonaventure Spas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but I only did a preliminary search in Florida so I'm still open to any ideas.

Anyone interested?

By the way, the fee for the condo includes all spa amenities, pool, tennis (hehe) etc.

Thank you. I know lately I haven't been eating as many meals as I should be.

Just a very busy time of year for me. My kids are keeping me hoping with

there activities. I am having a hard time finding a protein drink I like also.

I thought about getting a vanilla powder and mixing it with a banana. I have

been eating what I am suppose to, haven't had anything I am not suppose to.

I will be happy to see the scales move again.

Thank you . I guess it just freaked me out that I stayed that way for a

week. But then again I think its only been 5 weeks, if I can lose 25 a month

I will hit my goal at 6 months. I am going to start at a health spa

tomorrow. So that hopefully will help allot.

What types of protein do you eat? I would like to find a good fish to try

also. I don't like a very fishy tasting one.

first Pam ... huge congrats and thunderous applause regarding your 26lbs in

five weeks !! That is HUGE HUGE HUGE ... and you must be feeling marvelous

about it.

As to the week with zero drop in weight ... my best advice is ...

" foghetabout it " !! If your doing everything you should be doing ... protein,

water,

and exercise.. the plateau will resolve itself on its own.

If your not doing everything you should be doing .. get back on track today.

Its that simple

Either way.....the weight will drop off ... eventually.

Hi Pam,

You've hit a plateau! I hit one right around the same time table at

5 weeks post-op. Remember you're body is getting use to not being

fed as much and it's holding on to everything it's got. Even though

we don't feel it (thank goodness) we're staving our bodies to some

degree. Eventually the scale just moved again for me and it will

for you. Try mixing things up a bit with your food intake. Try

less carbs, more protein drink, more water. The scale will move

again, trust me it will. It's hard to get through these plateau's;

I've had 2 since post-op but I'm still doing great for 4 1/2 months

out (-87lbs).

Good luck!

Pam,

Stress can also cause problems, remember to try and take some time for

yourself. Another thing is to increase the amount of exercise you do,

for instance if right now you're walking for 2 miles, try for 2 1/2 or

3 miles, if you're exercising for 30 minutes, do 45 and do it a little

harder. This can often help especially when you up your protein --I know

it sounds weird but if you increase the amount of food you eat as well,

this can help break the plateau. One other trick, don't get on the scale

if it's that time of the month...you'll only be disappointed--at least I

always am....

You are doing a great job and I wouldn't worry about it too much. The

weight will come off....just make sure you're doing all you can and it

sounds like you are. 26 lbs is nothing to sneeze at!!!

I eat a lot of chicken and fish and ground turkey on occasion. The fish

I buy is Kroger brand grilled fillets. If you have a Kroger near you, I

think these are better than the Gorton's and they have less calories and

are higher in protein and they taste really good. I'm going to start

protein drinks soon (haven't used any up to this point because doc

doesn't recommend them) because I'm starting to see a slow down in my

weight loss and I still have quite a bit to go. I'm not complaining mind

you...just want the rest of it off!

Good Luck!

I hadn't either...maybe the reason they did it was because I checked
